Golotomer, I admire your wanting to do phlebotomy.  I just don't know if I could handle it.  I'm such a wimp as it is, having blood drawn every 3 months.  I know what I feel, so I think I would have too much compassion for what they may feel.  I guess that's why I'm a teacher - I love doing that!

As far as tips for more FC earnings, there are surveys that I don't mind doing at all.  The only drawback is how sometimes you may not qualify or you may go quite a ways through it and then find out you don't qualify.  But the earnings you can make off of them makes up for that.  The more you do seems to qualify you for more.  The ones I like are: SurveyHead, GiveUsYour2Cents, MyThoughtCounts, MyViewDailySurvey, and SSI Daily Survey.  I bookmarked them (a little green tab on them), and it puts them under the Daily tab.  That way I can pull the Daily tab up, and those surveys come up all together for my convenience.  Let me know if these work for you!

Surveys have not worked for me yet. they time out and I loose connection or I dont get qualified. Ive had 4 offers not pay out also so Im kinda laying off taking time and doing other stuff. Maybe Ill try for another again. Im not working cause I am not equipped to drive in the bad weather here. I really need disability but you know how that goes. they say you can work a desk job. but no one hires a RN to work a minumum wage desk job. I tried. Im hanging out on a small retirement check that will only pay for a room for rent at low cost. Im willing to move if someone needs a live in nurse.

It hardly seems fair, does it?  I remember applying for a filing job once, and they told me I was over-qualified and so wouldn't give it to me.  That same day I did get a data entry job in the same company, but I was irked because of not being able to get a job that was available then, with no one in line.  After all, you can always move up.  I hope things turn around for you for the better!  :)

I'm 72 years old, currently unemployed and plan to keep it that way. I'm hardly frugal, I love spending money and having fun, so that's why I spend time making money on the computer each day and pump up my fun money fund.

I'm not planning on going back to school, but who knows when I might change my mind? I like to take my wife traveling around North America and we make several trips a year. This year we had a week on a houseboat in Key Largo, a week at the beach, a week in North Carolina and we already have reservations for a week at Yellowstone next summer. That's why I keep clicking.

I also sing in Barbershop Quartets and play a little bluegrass guitar with my boys.
I enjoy your blogg, Its always fun to spend money and enjoy the things you get to play with:))
were all adults but we all like our toys

Surveys and jobs
« Reply #64 on: December 07, 2010, 02:04:00 am »
Jcribb thanks for the tips on more surveys.  I'll try those too.  I also like free samples.  My son told me about Twisted Branches and I regularly check out the Walmart site for those.

Congress passed the extension for the unemployment so it looks like I'll be okay until school starts in Feb.  I can't quit my current part-time seasonal job or I could risk losing my funding for school but at least I'll make up the difference in earnings via my unemployment and then the TAA funding will kick in once the unemployment runs out.  My schooling is 18 months and the just approved another 13 months.

Yes I was have also been told by a lawyers office that I was overqualified for the job they were offering as a paralegal.  I'm glad I didn't take the job anyhow as they seemed like such stuffed shirts to me.  I'm used to working with more of the Dilbert type of people.  :)

My time has always been to work but unfortunetly I found myself struggling to find my balance in life. Fusion cash has helped me make the exta money.

The way it's looking for me is that I'll add about 25 dollars a month to my income.  I'd like to add more but can't seem to find those things that don't take excessive time, actually work (like urls) or don't want my home phone number (which I won't give).

Thanks so much, jkhanson. Unfortunately, our daughter-in-law miscarried this week.  Congrats on your 5th grandchild! That is super! :)

Death by kiosk
« Reply #69 on: December 09, 2010, 07:15:40 am »
At my part-time job we are not allowed to read, talk on a phone, eat or drink.  They say you get a ten minute break during your four and a half hour shift but it's hard to even get someone to relieve you long enough to go to the bathroom and you feel rushed to get back to your post.

I'm fine when we are busy at the register but those times where you barely make a sale an hour are driving me up a wall.  I walk around the kiosk in a big circle, constantly straightening the product on the shelf.  I'm wearing a pedometer and tracking my steps and am looking at it as though I am getting my exercise in for the day but...you can't walk as fast as I would if I were walking for exercise and you can't listen to music to keep you motivated.  Any boredom buster ideas from anyone?

:cat:  It's a good thing it's temporary for you, golotomer.  I've been working extra hours this week, subbing.  Any little bit helps!

She's doing okay, just really sad. What makes it hard for her is that my son (her hubby) is out to sea and won't be back until the end of December. She was finally able to get a message to the ship today to let him know what happened. Her sister is taking her away this weekend to try and cheer her up and our 2 little granddaughters are going to stay with us this weekend.

I'm sorry to hear about the miscarriage.  I did read too that the daddy is out to sea.  That's a double whammy.  It sounds like she has good health though and they can try again.  My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
