I'm 27 and I've been married for 2 yrs and 5 months now. I don't have any kids of my own but I do have a handsome step-son. I love him and my husband so much. As of right now I'm searching for jobs. I got laid off last December from Verizon. Tomorrow the 11th makes it official. A year without a job. It's depressing and so I've been making some money on here until I find a real job that can give me the economic stability that I'm looking for. I love fusioncash and I will stick with them even when I do land my dream job. It just helps that my husband and the rest of my family is supportive. I really don't have anyone pestering me or making me feel useless because I don't have a job. On the other hand, I'm my own biggest critic. I tend to beat(not literally) myself up everyday because of the fact that I don't have a job and that no one's hiring me. I guess the employer can't see my skills or the potential that I have if I were to be hired by their company. I'm telling you I try to go in as positive as I can but something is not working. I dress to impress because the first impression on an interview is the most important. Can someone out there tell me what I'm doing wrong? I need help.

She's doing okay, just really sad. What makes it hard for her is that my son (her hubby) is out to sea and won't be back until the end of December. She was finally able to get a message to the ship today to let him know what happened. Her sister is taking her away this weekend to try and cheer her up and our 2 little granddaughters are going to stay with us this weekend.

I can't even imagine...... but thats good that she has a good sister to help take her mind off things. and great parents/grandparents to watch the kiddos.
That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.

You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into in the first place.

Sweetie I don't think it's you that is the problem.  It's the economy and the entire job market that has changed.  The swing is to pay between minimum wage and 12 an hour with no paid benefits.  We had counseling sessions when we lost our jobs with BMG Columbia House/Doubleday Books and they basically told us to expect to make half of what we did before the lay off.

It helps to have two incomes but I am a divorcee and it's real difficult to make a living on 12 bucks an hour.  You can't pay your normal monthly living expenses on that amount of money and with no medical benefits and being in my mid fifties it's a scarey new world out there.

You are young so just remain tenacious and something will come your way eventually.

Thanks for your words of wisdom. Sometimes I just need to be reminded of things like the economy doing really bad. You sound like a very nice person. Keep on making those afghans. That sounds like a great hobby.

Christmas
« Reply #83 on: December 16, 2010, 05:12:41 am »
I've done all the Christmas shopping I can afford to do.  I've made everything I have time to make.  I don't feel like people really appreciate what you give them anyhow so I'll be glad when the holidays are over.  Too much stress for the wrong reasons.

We bought a puzzle last night and started putting it together.  This is a tradition I participated in when I was a little girl with my dad.  As I grew older and had children of my own we always started a puzzle during the Christmas season and it gave us something to work on during the evenings when the weather was cold and blustery.  One year my son in law and I both had taken several pieces from the puzzle when we first opened it, without the other knowing, just so we could be the ones to put the last pieces in.  It was funny when we got the puzzle completed and there were pieces missing and we both pulled our confiscated pieces out of hiding.

What odd traditions does your family hold on to?  To me those are the things that make the season more special.

:cat:  My daughter and I continue the puzzle tradition, as well!  We also work on one with my step-mother-in-law.  Another thing our family still enjoys (even my grown children), is the hanging of the stockings.  When they get up or when they come over, the first thing they want to go get is their stocking.  It makes it fun for the granddaughters, too. They love watching the adults still get stockings from Santa!

One other very important thing we do is to read the 2nd chapter of Luke (verses 1-20.)  It's very fitting to remember why we celebrate the joy (Jesus) of Christmas, and we love keeping that tradition.  :)

Hello everyone i am new at this so if anybody has any advice, im all ears.

I'm really too new at it to over advice.  I mostly just do the daily 15 cents, post in the forum and do the paid to click emails...oh and watch the paid videos.  The surveys don't seem to work for me ....I always get disqualified.

I tried one thing where you look up urls but one of the pages wasn't working and I couldn't give them the information they were asking so I wasted an entire 20 minutes of my time and got frustrated.  You should at least try it though...it might be something you excel at.

:cat:  We just found out that we are going to have our 3rd grandchild!  :)

Congratulations jcribb16!

TODAY I am awaiting the news of our 5th grandchild.  Sazianna is scheduled to be born today by C-section.
Thanks so much, jkhanson. Unfortunately, our daughter-in-law miscarried this week.  Congrats on your 5th grandchild! That is super! :)

oh jcribb, I am soo sorry to hear that... Bless her heart. I hope that all is going okay.

jcribb, I am so sorry to hear about your daughter-in-law and the miscarriage.  My heart breaks for her (and for her hubby out at sea). Your son will also need some extra love and prayers.  He is "alone" even though he is among buddies on the ship.

Our son got to come home from Kuwait for the birth and has to return on 12-18-10.  Our soldiers and families sacrifice a lot while they are deployed.

:cat:   Thank you, jkhanson.  She's doing a little better, but I know she's waiting for Dec. 28, when he returns. He'll have 2 weeks before leaving again.  But, at least he'll be able to give her support that only a hubby can.  I know it's hard for him, too.

You are so right about them sacrificing a lot when they are deployed.  I admire those families that are able to stay strong and keep their marriage and family together.  That's a hard thing for all of them, including their children.
