Hi Naija!  I am very thankful to you for what you do for our country.  I hope you enjoy your time off and spend quality time with your little Logan - you deserve it!  My hubby is a Marine veteran.  One of my sons is in the Navy and is coming back from deployment in November.

I enjoy Fusion Cash.  I like earning while having fun, too!  Hope to "see" you again!

Welcome!  I ditto everything Julie said.  My grandson-in-law is also a Marine.  They are stationed in San Diego.  Where are you?

Julie,

Wow I saw the pictures of the rain you posted to FB.  Torrential!  Is everything okay this morning?

We had storms last night too but it didn't seem as bad as what you had.  It is supposed to rain the next 4 days, with storms today and tomorrow.

I go to pick up my books today.  I think I only have a couple for this semester as some of the work is online.  Hopefully I can do some of the modules from home.

Very discouraged here with the SD and her ways.  Little irritants that add up.  The stinginess I see with her personal use items.... is but one of many issues.  One example, hard to describe but she puts her body wash off where it is apparent it is for her use only.  I don't mind that but she took mine (apparently thinking it was hers or just totally on purpose) and put it off in her private space.  She clearly marks her turf on certain things but thinks nothing of invading your personal space or using your things.  I'm doing my best to stay positive and ignore all of this but it wears on me.  So anyhoo...I'm using bar soap, which is fine with me, and will not purchase any more body wash.  I am constantly making concessions of this nature just to keep peace in the house.  Hate to even complain as it just produces more of the same.

PUtting my smile on and will get on with this day.  Hope the weather calms down a bit for you.

Kim

Hi timvolley.  I'm glad you stopped by.  That's a great job you have.  I played volleyball in jr. high, sr. high, and off and on through out the years.  That's my favorite sport.  I like computers, but have no idea how to fix them, lol.  I love bicycling, too, but since my bike was stolen, I haven't been able to afford to replace it yet.  Hope you drop in again!  :)

Kim,

Regarding the weather, the rain finally stopped late last night.  The swamp pond up near the front of our neighborhood, is still overflowing and has the dirt road flooded that way.  The 2nd dirt road out has some flooding, but there is a major erosion straight across the road - so they've got to come and fix that.  The 3rd dirt road is the best of the 3, but it takes a lot longer to get around on that one - out of the way a little bit.  But, at least it's a way out!  We're supposed to have more of the same tonight and tomorrow.  Then it's supposed to clear up and bring in some sunny and cooler weather.

That's great if you are able to do some work online.  I hope you have the privacy you need, too.  Speaking of that, have you thought of maybe using your washes you like, but taking them back to your room each time?  I know it would be kind of a pain, but you would be using your favorites.  I don't want to see you blocked from your own things like that.  In the meantime, keeping the peace and smiling outward is hard but it does avoid fireworks.  I'm just sorry you are still having to deal with this stuff.

Hope you have a great and productive day, tomorrow, with going back to school.  If I could, I would pass a specialty coffee or tea through to you - your favorite flavor!!

Julie  :)

Welcome Tim.

Glad you stopped by to say hello.  At the risk of sounding stupid what does a controller do?  I share your like of computes and bicyling but only know a little about volleyball....like highschool gym class.  :)

Hope to see you again.

Julie,

I picked up my books yesterday and actually had my first homework assignment.  The teacher sent us an email to tell us what to do.  We had two teachers give us the task of printing out our own syllabus and class assignments, a spelling list and a class rules and regulations.  That kind of irritated me as some of the students don't have home computers and we have to use our own ink to print.  I think they should be responsible for printing those things out on the schools dime and handing them out in class.  We that have computers, printers and ink will get extra points for the task but it seems a little unfair to those that don't.

Well I got some good news yesterday..the SD has found a house and is moving this weekend.  It is going to feel so good to get back to normal around here, have closet space back (most of his clothes are in three laundry baskets in my computer room and a rack of my clothes are on an extra rolling closet in the mancave) and rooms that are empty of large toys and extra stuff stored in every nook and cranny.  I have agreed to still do some babysitting on my early days off of school but I haven't commited myself to weekends or even all the time.  I just can't do that with my school work and having to have time for other family things and fun times.

I'm attempting a go at exercising again.  I've managed to pack on even more weight the last couple of months.  I believe from stress and inactivity of sitting all day in school and at home while studying.  I used to exercise before they moved in but got off track and never got things going again because there wasn't a quiet place where I wouldn't be seen or wake someone up in the mornings.  I set a place up in the basement but as of next week I should be able to move the operation back upstairs.

I hope the worst of the rain is over for you.  It sounds pretty trecherous on the roads with the flooding.  Do you have any student teaching lined up in the near future?  Did the neighbors furniture come?

tata for now.

Hi Kim,

Yes, our neighbors have their furniture now.  Last night was their first night in there.  She said they both slept like babies straight thru and were more relaxed than they've been in a long while.  Her hubby surprised her last night with a coffee maker - she can't go without her coffee, lol.  She was happy about that.

The dirt roads are much better today since the forecast of rain last night never happened.  They dried up some.  The one with the major erosion was being worked on earlier by the graters.  The other one with the swamp overflowing has eased off some - just kind of slippery.  We may have rain tonight and it's clouding up.

I'm looking forward to the weekend since the cool front is supposed to be in around Friday.  Friday, we are going with some friends to celebrate his birthday.  I believe we are going to Olive Garden about 1 1/2 hours away.  Then Saturday, we are going to a birthday party at the park for a friend's son, who is turning 2 years old.  My friend has "adopted" me as a "Nana" - she knows of the situation with mine and offers me "play dates" with her 2 little boys.  The other boy is 6 months old.  They are adorable!

Oh wow, Kim, you won't know what to do with yourself when SD moves out!  That will be great getting back to your own lives, habits, exercising, studying - well, everything, lol!  Is she rooming with some others?

I have to agree about the situation with printing out your own things for class.  It just seems like the consumers are having to take up the slack for anything and everything - it's just not right.  I also feel bad for the ones who don't have a computer nor a computer.  Does this semester end in December?

I don't really have anything lined up just yet.  I am on the sub list but haven't been called as of yet.  I know they are using their parapros and assistants/aides before using anyone outside this year.  That's one of their ways of saving money with their budgets.

Gotta go for now.  I've got my kids' choir tonight.  I would like to introduce the handbell song tonight - I usually audition kids when we prepare new songs. However, we have so many kids now (between 40 and 50) and I've picked out 8 mature, reliable kids who are there most all of the time.  I also chose 5 subs, just in case.  I'll end up rotating them, though, so the subs will be used too.  Before, it would come time for a program and 2 or 3 would either back out or not show up, and ditto with the subs.  That's why the choosing this time.  They really want to commit to it.

Hope you had a good day at school.  What classes are you signed up for this semester?  Talk with you tomorrow!

Julie   :cat:

I'll bet that was a great feeling for the neighbors to finally spend the night in their new home.  I understand the whole coffee addiction.  We drink ours daily but also have a cup of espresso after dinner each night.  I really think we should cut down though.  It' s not good for the bones.  There is a special on tv tonight about coffee addiction I'd like to watch if I have time.

I love Olive Garden's salads, bread sticks and pasta faggioli.  I can eat that soup until I make myself sick and usually I suffer tummy problems for a day but it's worth the risk.  I have a good recipe for the soup too.  I got it from that copykat recipe website.  The only thing I've learned to add is a bit of tabasco...which isn't included in the recipe.

You are so right about us getting back to normal around here.  I'm taking the dogs to be groomed on Saturday which will get them out of the house and out from under foot of the movers and away from the doors hanging open while they are packing her uhaul.  My son is moving this weekend too and I was supposed to help him both Saturday and Sunday but told him I'd only be available on Sunday.  I really need to do some heavy duty homework on Saturday too so don't think I'll lend my hand too much with the SD's moving.

This semester will end January 17th.  There really will be a lot of breaks in between too with the holidays so hoping it won't seem too long.  This semester it is Patho, Word, English, Medical billing, Phlebotomy, Clinical III, and a once weekly, one hour class for Internship Preparation.  They teach you how to dress, interpersonal skills, etc.  I really don't think I need help in that area but it will be interesting to watch them try to mold some of the younger girls with their ghetto dress, speech and attitudes.   :angel12:  I had to separate myself with some of the ones I had been mingling with because I couldn't stand their negativity and temper tantrums.  I'm pretty much a loner these days because I didn't want to be associated with the cliches.  That's fine with me though as I'm much more productive without being weighed down with 19-30 year old attitudes.  :binkybaby:

There was a bit of stink in class yesterday for those that hadn't checked their emails and printed out the requested documents.  I indicated, nicely, to one teacher that I appreciated the fact that she was still handing out her hard copy syllabus instead of requesting that we print them out from home.  Not a direct complaint to the culprits but I was hoping my positive reinforcement would make the proper statement.

How did the introduction to the bells go last night?  I'm not sure how the music for the bells is written.  Do they have to learn to actually read the music or is there some other way of indicating when / how to play on cue?  I guess playing by ear would be somewhat of an option?

Later my friend.

Kim  :dog:

Dianna,
Goodness FB is in an uproar with everyone and the new changes!  I saw where there was a poll taken and it show about 63% don't like it.  I read some of the other changes they are implementing as well.  It involves music, listening to it, and suppose you see a friend is listening to something you like, you can join right in and listen with them.  There are other things too.  It just seems like a lot and it also makes everyone more public to everyone else, even if they are someone else's friends.  There was something mentioned, but I haven't seen it in the FB changes, that our posts may be monitored as well, and maybe even removed if they don't deem it worthy, so-to-speak.  I don't know --- I wish they would just leave things alone.  I'm tired of the games being messed with and messed up, too.  Sorry for the rant and thanks for the shoulder, lol!!

Hope you have a great weekend!  :)

I'm not sure when your birthday is (haven't been on FB today, yet), but I hope you have a wonderful one!  I did see and supported the event you are talking about.  Hopefully they will listen.  I'll talk to you later!  Have a great weekend!

Kim,

Goodness, girl, you have a lot of work this semester!  Hopefully, you will have a lot more freedom and quality time on your hands at home when SD moves out.  You need it!!!  I'm glad you are reserving Saturday for you and your studies.   :star:

I can totally relate to being a loner sometimes with things like what you are dealing with.  I may have 1 or 2 I would hook up with, but being on my own didn't bother me in the least and gave me more focus time on my own things going on.  I agree that attitudes and temperaments are not the same when we were college age.  It's a different type of students more often than not, now-a-days.

You go, Kim!!  That was the right thing to say to your teacher.  I hope some of them really listened and thought on that.

Last night for the bells part was postponed.  There were a couple of things after the music that had to be added to their lesson with that teacher, so I'll do it next week.  When I first started teaching handbells to them, I made large charts of the words to the songs.  I would color-code the words to match the particular bells.  These bells are metal and are color-coded; when they progress on to harder things they start using the very expensive ones.  Our church does not have them.  Since I've taught music through the years, I had invested in these mid-expensive bells, and so I'm able to at least use them.  They are great to work with and teach with.

I've gone from making a large chart to letting them actually read music pages that are written strictly for the bells.  I've gone in on the pages and color-coded the notes/boxes so it will make it easier for them to play their individual bells.  I can still use the charts for the younger kids when first teaching them how to play them.

I just heard the best weather news tonight!  It's supposed to go down in the upper 40s at night, and the upper 60s during the day over the weekend and afterwards for a few days.  That is my kind of weather coming up that I can do better in.  I'm looking forward to it!

Hope your Friday is productive for you.  Have a great day!

Julie,

I'd like to see the bell music.  Might just have to google and see what the net has to say about it.  I have found a couple of websites where I can download piano/organ music free, including newer songs, so maybe there is something on bell music too.

Yes I am really looking forward to having the house back in a big way.  I can move my exercise equipment back up from the basement, have my toothbrush, towels, lotions and makeup back in the bathroom.  I'm looking forward to not having to clean up her hairspray and makeup from the bathroom counter and floor, along with having more space in the tiny kitchen.  I can put his clothes back in dressers instead of in laundry baskets in my computer room and an entire rack of my clothes can go back in the bedroom closet.  Houseplants will have their own space and you can walk through the breezeway, mancave and livingroom without a stack of humongous toys.  We are talking complete dollhouses that are 5 feet tall, many!!!!! bikes and ride upon toys and an entire zoo of stuffed animals and dolls.  We will still be doing some babysitting so we'll see the little one a couple of times a week.

We are once again having a mouse problem.  Last night one got caught in a trap on the stove by the fatty skin on it's side and one paw.  It was still very much alive and I couldn't pick up the trap and put it outside without fear of being bitten.  I had a big wooden spoon and was trying to get the end of the spoon under part of the trap to pick it up and put it outside but each time I got near the mouse would start to run and drag the trap with him and would go under one of the cast iron burner covers.  After about half an hour it finally struggled it's way free and went down a vent on the top of the stove.  Bob thinks they are living in the insulation of the stove.  He set another trap and this morning I have a dead mouse, standing straight up in the air with it's head looking over the edge of the upright trap on the stove!  Yuk.

The cat caught and killed two chipmunks last week but not a mouse that we've seen.  The cat is living outside and the mice were smart enough to come into the house.  It seems to be a constant problem here.  Probably because we live more in the country????  I don't know how you can possibly prevent it other than to have all foods out of reach and with this small kitchen and extra people living here there has been an abundance of breads and snacks on the counter tops so the mice have had plenty to draw them in.  I always kept the bread in the fridge but didn't have room for that after she moved in.  The fridge is just too small.  Probably having my dog foods on the floor doesn't help either but there is no getting around that problem.

I'm glad the weather will make it easier on you.  We are studying allergies now in class and I always think of you and your problems.  Maybe you'll have a good weekend and enjoy yourself a bit more.

Off to study for a bit.

Kim
