Julie,
Well here is a rundown of yesterday's activities. Bob and I went to a flea market that is only open on Thursdays. I don't get to go to it when school is in progress as they open at 6 and close at noon. A lot of Amish sell their goods there so there are buggies, horses, blue dresses, beards, bonnets and lots of food everywhere. The English sell too though so you can find just about anything.
I found a wet suit for 10 bucks that would normally cost several hundred dollars. They lady that owned it used it in their swimming pool as her husband refused to buy a heater and we do live in Pennsylvania.

I have been wanting one so that I can kayak in colder weather without fear of hypothermia. I had been looking for used on Ebay but the cheapest I had found was 35-50 and that's without shipping. We bought several plants too and I got those planted.
The tire you saw on ebay was an eppic fail. I was trying to cut corners and not spend 4 dollars a can on the neon spray paint. My theory was I would paint them with white spray paint, 96 cents a can, then hand paint with the acrylic paints in the tread of the tire. Wrong. The tread areas were too little in spots for the paint brushes I had on hand, the paint didn't adhere too well to the spray paint and would have taken coat after coat to get the right color and would have taken me days on end to complete. I ended up slathering the acrylic on with a flat brush. All in all it was as expensive and more frustrating than if I had just bit the bullet and bought the spray paint. Lesson learned. You still get a good planter that will last for years. It's homemade, you are recycling something that would end up in a landfill and they are just so darn colorful and cute.
They are dry this morning so I'll try to take a picture and post before I leave. I'm going to visit my son and we are going to go to several yard sales in his area. He lives about 8 miles from my hometown so I'm hoping to see a couple of old friends for a few minutes too. I have one lady that was friends with my mom that is still alive and I'd like to stop by and see her. She was in love with my kids when they were little and hasn't seen my son since he was about 5.
I'm hoping to purchase the plants to put into the tires while I'm out too. I want to get things that are bright and on the opposite color spectrum from the tire. Example pink petunias in a green or yellow tire.
Yesterday was just one of those days when everything I tried to do around the house went downhill. The tires didn't work out the way I planned or expected...I tried to hose the side patio off because the rain washed a bunch of debris from the shingles all over the pavement but the garden hose had sprung a leak and the new one I connected wouldn't reach to the patio. The sweeper wasn't picking up right and requires attention from Bob when he has time.....By the time I started fixing supper I was worn out and frustrated! Just one of those days when a girl starts dreaming of running away to a beach somewhere but that's hard to do with two dogs and three cats in your beach bag!
Glad little fella's test came out great. I'm sure his parents are happy. There is nothing worse than a sick child. Now if we can just get you fixed and feeling better!
Gotta run. It's 5:30 but I have some things to get done before I leave at 8. I'm taking my babies with me so I have to clean the cat carrier out and gather up supplies for the day. I left the kitchen in a mess last night too so I have to clean that mess up.
You have a good day and keep those garden/frugal websites coming. I'm digging them...no pun intended.
Kim
