ORGANIC FOODS OR REGULAR WHATS YOUR POISON??
« on: November 02, 2010, 01:22:32 pm »
I WAS WATCHING A COMMERICAL YESTERDAY FOR DR.OZ AND HE WAS SHOWING CLIPS OF MOST FOODS AND WHAT COMPANIES PUT IN THEM AND DONT REALLY TELL YOU OR PLACE ON THE PACKAGE LABEL . WELL I FEEL IF YOU WASNT BORN UNDER A ROCK, COMMON SENSE WOULD POP UP AND SMACK YOU IN THE HEAD. SINCE MOST PRODUCTS USED IN THIS WORLD HAVE ADDITIONAL CHEMICALS OR VITAMINS WHAT EVER IS THE CORRECT TERM TO USE TODAY. AS WELL AS WATER YOU DRINK CONTAINING VARIOUS CHEMICALS ETC ETC. ANYWAY I DIGRESS..MY QUESTION TO YOU, THE AVERAGE JOE, "DO YOU THINK ORGANIC FOOD IS THE WAY TO GO OR REGULAR FOOD SHOT UP WITH LORD KNOWS WHAT?"

There’s really nothing left to eat or drink in this world. You are correct most of our food products contain many added and dangerous chemical ingredients like pesticides, herbicides, preservatives, artificial flavorings/colors, anything to make the crop grow faster and larger, etc. and the list goes on and on are all due to the selfish motive of making $profit$. The consumer health is never a primary concern.  >:( Even organic may not always be 100% organic which never fails to upset me.  :BangHead:

I try to buy the lesser of many evils. I've taken to purchasing most of the fruits and veggies that grow in our region from local farmers I feel I can trust (and many of whom go to church with me, or I know from the community) and to planting and harvesting my own vegetables and herbs in the yard, then drying for later use. It saves a lot of money, and a ton of worry.

Meat is different- I can purchase from local slaughterhouses but sometimes it's just too expensive. I rely heavily on my husband's hunting to fill our meat freezer, and we eat a lot of venison because of this. The deer live on our land and I know exactly what they're eating as a rule. They drink from our creek, which has been tested for contaminants and came back clear.

I know I'm fortunate to have these opportunities. I live in a small, rural community which suffers greatly in this economy. Living in bigger cities I never had this kind of support and these opportunities.

I live in Southern California and "In & Out burgers" is a staple of this state.  You can ask almost anyone that resides in the area and they will tell you that they have some of the best burgers.  I try to limit myself to 1-2 trips there each month but accidents happen and I find my car sorta knows its own way there.  :bootyshake:

right?!?!? a month ago i saw that youtube video where that chick claims to have a mcdonalds chesseburger and fries that is 4 years old and shows no signs of mold and whether that was legit or not, it certainly turned my stomach. enough so that i swore off fast food. and i have stuck to that with the exception of in & out. my husband brings me in & out once a week and i swear it is the best burger i have ever tasted and there is no way i could ever give it up or move to a state that did not have in & out :)

Whenever you read about organic food, the story is that organic food is much better for  you.  Its possible that's true, but organic food is very expensive and these day not many people can afford organic food.

My wife is a cancer survivor and swears by organic food to the point of going overboard...fruits and vegetables yes...toilet paper and tooth paste-no. Death is inevitable and we are constantly finding out about something new that is bound to kill us. Live life to it's fullest and enjoy every day because it is a gift.  Worrying about every little thing is not living a full life...use common sense.

We have started buying from and origanic farm close to us, The food is fresh no chemicals and it is feeling
and hour later you are not hungry.   You sre not looking for something else to eat.  Weuse to spend 35 to 40 dolars a week on produce, so we have not changed what we are eating just were its coming from.

We stick to organic meat and milk. Yes it's more expensive but it's not filled with all of the crap that goes into the other stuff.
I mean I find it strange when comparing organic free range chicken to say a name brand non organic and the chicken *bleep* are 3x's the size. Something had to make that happen in order for that chicken to grow that much more in size. Milk because for some reason the organic stuff doesn't make my stomach hurt after drinking it.

We buy from local farmers for vegtables and fruit and buy what's in season. It's typically cheaper this way and it's usually healthier since it's not done with pesticides.

I wish I lived in an area where hunting was more prevalant. We're talking about (my wife and I) going in with our neighbors on buying a cow and splitting it and keeping it in the freezers. We'll see how that goes though.

I've been  avoiding most  packaged foods because they're expensive & not as good as what I cook. Now there's another reason!!! Find a supermarket or produce store where sale vegetables are less than 75 cents/pound. (Check for list of veg/fruit like apples & broccoli that have systemic pesticide residue. Buy those organic.) Grow whatever veg. you can. Buy rice, beans, flour, oil, etc., and meat that's less than $1/lb. Your diet will be safer and your grocery bill will drop like a stone!!!!
