I lived 16 years in Alaska, and a lot of people wore real fur.  I have no qualms about wearing it myself.  In fact, I prefer it.  It's for warmth.  There is nothing wrong about looking fashionable/nice either.  However, a coat costing several thousands of dollars falls under the title of excess.  I'm now looking for a 3/4 length fur coat, with a Wolf or Silver Fox hood/Muff.  I live in a very cold area that is also very damp.  Nothing warms like fur. IMO

Some animals, as stated before, are not good for eating.....only the fur they provide.  The Inuit, Athabascan, etc., Indians (in Alaska) trap Wolf, Fox, Mink, lynx, Beaver, etc. for their clothing.  There is nothing wrong with that.  They have their furs to barter for other things.  Some people trap for a living and sell their furs.  Animals were put here for mankind to use as meat, or anything else we need.  Someone mentioned cattle and the leather they provide as well as dairy products, and beef.

What I do have a problem with is hunting an animal to extinction.

I would never wear fur unless I knew the animal had died to feed humanity.  I believe you should use the entire animal if you are going to kill it.  So if you kill a cow for food, then wasting the hide seems almost immoral.  I don't believe in killing any animal exclusively for fashion but, if the animal is going to be eaten, then using all you can from it will at least make it so its death was not in vain.  People have been using animal skin/fur/bones since the beginning of humanity and out of necessity.  If we kill animals b/c we are feeding and clothing our village, then those animals will not have died in vain.  If we kill animals only b/c we want to look fashionable, then I think that it's wrong.

Well all the animals that have fur that is used to make clothes is NOT good for humans to eat-----You can use the fur and then feed that animal to other animals, or process it into dog food, cat food or something useful.

I have no issue with people wearing it or me wearing it. Would I?
Probably not it's not my thing and I live in a very warm area.
It would be pointless and crazy for me to.

Before people state I hate animals, I am a big lover of animals, but sometimes we need to utilize their resources.
I agree with the Alaskan it provides the best warmth and I don't have any issue with it as long as the animal isn't on the verge of extinction.

That's kind of a sticky situation.  I haven't really seen anyone wear real fur unless it's around the neck, but not the whole coat.  I have real fur around my black leather jacket so my guess if yes, it's ok to wear real fur.

I have to agree.  Animals shouldn't be hunted into extinction.
