TBH Our country is not something to be looked up to. It hasn't been for years. Back in the days of Ben Franklin it was but not now. Our government cares more about other countries then about Americans. If our country is so freaking great then why do we not have the health coverage that countries like Canada, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom have ?

there are two BIG problems with your point....

1) how are the above countries doing in the REST of their individual economy's?
2) just because every other country in the world does something.... doent mean we should do it as well.

Show me even ONE thing that makes this country better then other countries. Putting money into other countries rather then fixing the problems in our own (namely health care and illegals) is just stupid.

I have a joke about the illegal thing LOL it was sent in an email....here it is:

Is it just me, or does anyone else find it amazing that our government can track a cow born in Canada almost three years ago, right to the stall where she sleeps in the state of Washington. And they tracked her calves to their stalls.

But they are unable to locate 11 million illegal aliens wandering around our country.

Maybe we should give them all a cow.  ;D ;D ;D ;D

you cleverly side stepped my retort to reword your initial comment.

and by that rewording.... no one in their right mind could disagree with you.

BUT.... that doesnt mean a federal health care system is in order.... there are other options.. without creating YET ANOTHER FEDERAL SYSTEM which can and WILL BE mismanaged, abused, and a drain on joe/jane average (the taxpayer).

I disagree. I am for a flat tax eliminating the irs and having universal health care.

i too, am in favor of getting rid of the I.R.S and going with a flat tax system.

but with universal health care... there is a real problem having these "the group pays for all" systems.

NOW, i asked you about the OVERALL economies of those individual countries that you cited.... to which there was no answer, curiously.. but i can tell you of MY personal experince in dealing with just one.

germany.

back in the 80's when i was married to a german.... as i paid a fourth of my income to taxes... hers was a third. (AND THAT WAS NOT INCLUDING PROPERTY TAXES... only income tax)

there was serious debate THEN of their social systems needing MORE money.... and that was before the wall came down and alot of the east germans flooded west germany.

my point with all this.... is that these "feel good" policies that seem to be waved in front of everyones face today.... there are REAL consequences.

money just doesnt magically appear to pay for all this.

Ok I really haven’t been following this topic yet but I am intrigued as to what every ones Political affiliation is.  Mine is Conservative Republican and unfortunately the person I like dropped out.  He was the only one that spoke about putting the going out of business sign on the IRS.  He was also the only one that had a real plan as to how to win war we have with in the USA (the borders).

You know what there isn't any government that knows how to properly spend money period. Further more money is wasted on stupid over priced crap and inflated salaries. It really has nothing to do with spending money on decent helpful programs.  The government runs on our money and should serve us. As it is they do not serve us so our money is wasted to line their pockets. Personally I would rather have them actually for once do something that benefits all Americans on a daily basis. Not to mention if health care is paid for through a flat tax that means even illegals will be paying for it. That sounds good to me. Instead of hospitals closing from the strain of dealing with all of the mexicans having entirely too many babies have them pay for OUR health care every single time they buy something. If everyone has to prove they are American in order to have health care then that leaves them out yet makes them pay. And I am all for making them pay.

great point.

jaz and cuppycake(?), i liked huckabee as well.... mainly for his tax proposals.

he took georgia for the repubs.

and while i'm not too crazy about mccain... i dont really know too much about him. its more just a personal uneasiness..... but considering the choices....

the lines of politics have really blurred to the point that its hard to get a good read on alot of these folks.

this month.... "oh. i against this....." ....NEXT month..... "after reconsidering, i now am in favor of this.."

YOU DID THAT IN ONE MONTH?

no, youre trying to get votes.

in the end..... i agree with george carlin.... the comedian.... who said.... "the chairs may change around, but the people who run the country will always run the country."

what concerns me is just how much "we the people" will get pissed on.
