And even if you quote the whole damn bible you are not going to get us to believe that....GOT IT??? if you are addressing your post IE; sermons to us, just save it for sunday and your minions. GOT IT???

No one has tried getting you to believe it. On the contrary, YOU ALL are the ones trying to sway us to your belief or lack thereof. Hypocrisy at its finest.
You will never know what my beliefs are and you are definitely not welcome to them.

And she knows posting all those biblical quotes isn't going to mean any thing to us thats just one of her ways of stroking her own ego.

NOTHING you post is going to change my stance (Christian) or my way of posting!

Re: "Nothing you can say can convince me otherwise"...and similar expressions.  The phrase comes in more varieties than a person might immediately recognize.  It's sometimes too subtle to notice the sort of confession to which we've been privy.

- It is the dismissal of all forthcoming evidence.

- It is the denial of all future discoveries and progress (potential or imminent).

- It's the outright rejection of all current knowledge that may stand contrary to the speaker's position.

- It's worse than confirmation bias; it declares that confirmation is unnecessary...

...and falsification is impossible.

But, happily, it is also a betrayal of the speaker's methods.  A method which can be pulled apart before their eyes.

If you are such a person, consider the following:

Why will nothing I say convince you?  This suggests you aren't interested in reason or evidence...

...which suggests you aren't open to being proven wrong.

...which means you don't care if reality disagrees with your beliefs.

...which suggests your beliefs are completely independent of what is real.

Or how about this.....  I've read all your arguments.  Read all the pros/cons postings to your arguments.  In the end realized that it just made my Faith stronger in what I do believe to be Truth, and the Bible is correct, just like I always knew it was.

Someone (you) on the other hand can spout their stand of evolution and atheistic rhetoric as "real", when in all fairness has been blown full of holes on so many threads on this forum, it's not funny.  Even when Sherene posted websites pointing to her key points (as a Christian), you brushed all that aside, and chided her for even using said websites, when you refer to atheistic websites constantly.  This suggests that I can claim the same accusations you are making.

As far as current knowledge, discoveries, and progress.  Are you implying that I'm still in the dark ages?  I better get rid of my computer, DVD player, Cell Phone, etc. then.

Since I'm not wrong, and the Bible is not wrong, why should I be concerned with a teaching that clearly goes against such?  Why should I be open to false teaching to the infallible Word of God.  I'm not going to go looking for margarine, when I have butter in my hands.  Kinda silly to throw the real Truth away for a false one.

Confirmation is necessary, and Confirmation has been given to you many times over.  However, since you don't believe in God OR the Bible, what accusation are you making lobbing at me?

You stated in another thread that I was "lost" to you as a convert to atheism.  Just remember that, because it won't change.  All your nonsense posted above is nothing more than an effort to muddy my conviction in what I believe.....good luck  lol

People on here, ask you and others a question and request a simple yes or no. You can't do that, you have to start quoting bible verses and preaching a sermon. How hard is it to answer simple yes.......or no? Unless of course you are, as I very much suspect, attempting to distance yourself from any guilt associated with the answer, and instead want to lay all the blame at Creators feet.

This is exactly why I said what I did in another thread when QON asked a question of Annella and jcribb and also asked they use their own thoughts on it. I said I highly doubted Annella would answer it - my exact words were: "Without using the standard pool of answers ie the Bible says, it might not be answered. That takes some out-of-the-box thinking and that's definitely not something I see from one person you asked." It did not get answered and I was informed I was 'baiting' Annella. Isn't it funny that everytime she is called out on anything it is 'baiting', singling out, making her the scapegoat'? Wow, I wish I was that special. I need to stop answering what I am asked and I need to stop admitting when I am wrong or out of line. I'll leave that to all the others who do it from now on and I'll use the 'being picked on' defense instead. Problem being, I have no book to draw all my words from or back me up. Hmm, I'll have to ponder that one awhile and see what I can come up with.

Annella, I don't think you have an idea what freedom of thought even is. How can you when every single thing comes down to what is in the Bible? Telling everyone who doesn't agree with you "It's your opinion, you're entitled to it." and the rest of your standard evasiveness is NOT giving an answer when you are asked about anything. Maybe you should look at what passive-aggressive behavior means, because I don't think you have a clue. It has NOTHING to do with "being open about your faith and what the word of god says" as you wrote. If you did, you would realize you are the epitome of it on this forum. The oh so sweet "love yous, the hearts, the prayers for people who don't ask for them" and the rest you dole out to the ones you agree with, the ones you try to make submissive by your words, don't fly when put up against the "hate Islamics, don't encourage the homosexuals - unless they are the ones you can 'fix' - instead go out and preach against someone else's life and be proud of yourself for doing it." That is a message of love, along with all the rest of your intolerance, for anything not in that book?

This has nothing to do with whatever you want to live your life by. It has everything to do with dictating how you feel others should live theirs. Quit sounding like the robot who got the very best programming - you aren't all that.

LOL  For one thing, I have no idea what your talking about?  What question are you talking about?  Again jordandog it matters little to me what you think of me.......or your opinion of me.  However, your free to give it.

There are 3 on here that I always disagree with....you, qon, and walksalone.  All three of you have made it quite clear that you don't agree with me.....great!  So we disagree.  What is your problem?  Nothing you say is going to make me agree with you.  Call all the names you want, apply all the negative titles,  I don't care.....got it?

NOTHING you post is going to change my stance (Christian) or my way of posting!  As far as "dictating" how others should live their life?  What are you referring to?  I love how you guys throw out these half baked statements, and then when I ask what you mean?  You don't say.  I think you just throw things out there that seem to sound good to you, when in actuality they make no sense.

You seem to have a lousy memory when it is convenient. This is the question from QON in thread "killing in the name of...":

Jcribb and Annella -- I appreciate your responses, really I do, but you didn't answer my question.  I didn't ask if you wanted me to go to hell, I asked if you think solely for being a non-believer, I *deserve* it.  It's a yes or no question.

Do YOU guys think it is right to punish otherwise good people forever on the sole basis of being skeptical of the god claims, OR being in the wrong religion?  Yes or no.  Don't say "only god can judge"; I really want to know if deep in your heart, you think it's morally correct?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Not one of us throws out any "half-baked statements" and when we get asked a question as to what we are talking about, we provide an answer. Of course you disagree with the 3 of us! We are the only ones who seem to have the cojones to call you out on the BS you write. This has not one thing to do with 'liking you', I don't know you as a person, I know you by what you write on here. I do not like prejudice, I do not like superiority, and I do not like fake fawning over people - it doesn't matter if it is you or anyone else on here, you just seem to be the one who does it the most.

In your mind, the Bible 'dictates' how the whole world should be and how everyone should act. That is NOT how the real world works and it shows very little love of your fellow human unless they meet the standards set forth in that book. You choose to live the way you want and I choose to live the way I want, who cares? I don't care either if we disagree, never have. Now, since we are strictly on a website, that is my only source to voice my thoughts so i wll apply this in that context. What I do care about are all the people on FC who might be gay, who might be Islamic/Muslims, who might be absolutely terrified because they are dying right now and what do they see? They see the horrendous words you write as a follower and preacher of what is in one book and you condemning them for how they live. Remember (I know you do) talking about all the christians who wrote you because they were soooo afraid to post on here before you came along because of the 'big, bad, gang of us' who don't agree with you? Well, look at the flipside of that. Do you ever wonder who else is afraid because of what THEY see? Now put that out in real life and you'll have a HUGE clue why I get so bothered by some of what you write. Gay teenagers should not be committing suicide because of bullies under the guise of god's word. That is but one thing. I am NOT saying you are solely responsible for anything, so leave that alone this time. You are a 'RIGHT-FIGHTER'. You will fight to be right no matter what it takes. You might win one battle, but lose the entire war and that is NOT what this world needs right now.

edited to add: By the way, if what I say or 'we' say, makes no sense to you, maybe you just aren't able to grasp it because everyone else seems to understand it just fine.

If anyone rejects Christ, and this great Salvation, they will go to hell......clear enough for you?  Do I believe it? YES!

Does the Bible say that homosexuality is a sin.....YES?  Do I believe that?  YES?  Clear enough for you?

You don't have to agree with me or the Bible.....but I WILL!!  Clear enough for you?  Since when did I say anything about gay teenagers being bullied and it was okay?  Is it right?  NO!  Do I hate gays?  NO!  Clear enough for you?

Jordandog, your very good for putting in a lot of things that I'm supposedly guilty of when I have nothing to do with it, or have never commented on it, or anything.  I'm mean really....your being absurd.

I've been reading and following this thread, and then I saw this:

What I do care about are all the people on FC who might be gay, who might be Islamic/Muslims, who might be absolutely terrified because they are dying right now and what do they see? They see the horrendous words you write as a follower and preacher of what is in one book and you condemning them for how they live. ...and I almost cried.  I think this could be applied to more than Annella, though.  There are many people on here who need to read this statement, and I think it was beautifully written, Jordandog.

At this point, it feels like this thread has become an anti-Annella thread, and it bothers me.  I need to quote a post I made a couple weeks back from a different thread...and I think it applies (bolded for emphasis).

I don't care personally whether or not someone believes homosexuality is a sin, whether it is abnormal or unnatural or contrary to what g-d wants for us.  The only actions we can control are those we personally take.  And I believe, wholeheartedly, the more someone votes against gay rights, the more someone preaches against gay rights, and the more people uphold "praying the gay away" that it damages more than it saves.

Everyone, not just the young men who died in these cases, but everyone involved is effected by this.  Religion and faith should be about love and acceptance...I don't see any love or acceptance here.  To ignore this is wrong.  These are human beings, g-d's children, and regardless of whether or not they were born gay or made a choice to be gay, they deserved much more respect than what they received.  There is so much fighting over the semantics of the issue that it is easily forgotten and/or ignored that these are real human beings lives at stake here.  We live in a culture where children and young adults get the idea that its okay to treat someone badly because they are different.  That needs to stop.  Until it does, there will be more victims of hate.

I don't care personally who agrees with what, who agrees or disagrees with me...there is a serious lack of people referring to others without respect...not just in this thread.  I am all for stating beliefs, disagreeing, and having a discussion about that.  I doubt I'll be posting again here on this thread, but I just want to say something.   This will be the third time I've felt the need to speak up and say something to defend Annella.  This makes me sad.  I know her outside of FC, and it saddens me that there are few on here who know Annella to be the wonderful person I know, despite our disagreements.

I have no problem with "Christians" or any other group of people with the sole exception of people who think they are in anyway superior then anyone else, that goes for anyone regardless of their beliefs or lack there of.

I have never been one to sugar coat any of my words and have more of a chance for someone mis-understand my stance. It is also very hard for me to show respect to someone which I have none for.

Everyone in here knows that I show respect towards respectable people.

I will say it again, you guys can't debate. It would be funny to see Richard Dawkins or Stephen Hawkings display the same kind of behavior you guys have.

The name calling and putting each other down, ah it is hilarious...

Shall I call you the pot or the kettle?
