Recently, a bus driver died as a result of some of the kids on the bus was being disruptive & unruly causing distractions to for the bus driver. She took her eyes off the road to deal with the kids & ran off the road into a tree. Before they saw the video that recorded what really happened, the parents were/are suing the school for employing inexperience bus drivers. I think that the parents who's kids was causing the distractions by standing up in the bus & being unruly should be the one to be sued by the bus driver's family. I seriously think that the bus driver should be responsible for driving the bus alone. His or her duty should be to drive that bus safely to get the kids home. When a bus driver have to multitask & drive & baby sit at the same time; isn't just as distracting as texting or talking on the phone while driving? What do you think about this issue?

Well these days there is no respect for anyone of any kind of authority from Kids and teens.  Finding drivers is very difficult these days and I do think someone needs to be accountable for this.  Kids that caused the problem needs something done with them.  The problem today is parents aren't the parents anymore the kids tell them what they are going and not going to do.  Its a crying shame!!

All my sympathy is with the bus driver.  When I was in high school, there were periods when kids would fight, riot, and then escape out the fire exits every single week.  Then the bus driver would have to stop the bus, fill out a report, and have an official drive to the scene of the incident.  Every fight would mean at least a half hour delay.  I hated riding that bus more than anything.

Perhaps a suit should be filed, to show these people that their children need discipline and to learn respect.

:cat:  Mine, too.  My hubby and daughter both drive school busses.  It's amazing the disrespect, unruliness, and bad attitudes many of these students have.  What's ridiculous, too, is the attitude some of these parents have taking up for and making excuses for their children.  >:(

Thanks everyone for your responses. I'm shocked at some you reliving the school bus ride nightmare. I blocked my school bus riding past; had to or go crazy but seeing what happened to that bus driver brought back the nightmare. Changes need to be done or we'll be hearing more negative school bus incidents in the near future.

In this day and age of litigation from the bench it is really hard to get a judgement for the family of the bus driver.  And sueing the kids is so much a waste of time since they do not have any resources to pay a judgement anyway.  Going after the parents since they are the ones ultimiately responsible for the behavior of their children is an uphill battle and to be honest is usually just not worth the effort to most lawyers these days.  They are looking for the lawsuits against those with deep pockets and lots of money.  So I imagine it will just all be dropped and settled out of court by insurance agents.
