So this will be our son's first Christmas, I know he's not going to remember a thing but he'll see pictures later in life, what do you recommend getting a 7mth old?

I would get a few toys that are age appropriate like the ones that make sounds or play music when you squeeze or touch them... maybe soft blocks. I guess it would depend on his mobility. And takes lots of pictures  :)

How wonderful!!  Baby's first Christmas!  He won't remember but you'll never forget it.  Our grandson will be almost three this Christmas.  I can hardly wait.  It will be great just watching his face.  Congratulations on your new baby!!

big blocks or books.
Keep it simple -- it gets a lot more complicated as they age

Make sure to pick up bright and interesting wrapping paper. Babies usually LOVE to play with the paper more than the items wrapped inside it!  For my younger brothers, I always got a nice soft teddy bear for each of them during their first x-mas; the oldest of my younger brothers just started college in August (he snuck Mr. Bear along with him when he thought no one was looking as we helped him pack).

how wonderful babys first christmas so sweet. I would reccommend a soft ball that makes noise and sounds of animals my son loved that when he was 7 months now he is three. I would also recommend getting a big stocking and taking a picture of baby inside it just the feet its really cute memory I have done that with all three of my kids and they look at them today and laugh and laugh.

My daughter spent her first christmas in the hospital so her daddy and I are excited she'll be here with us this time around. We're going to make it as great for her as possible.

I woul get him anything he would like. Here are a few suggestions from some one who had 3 little boys. Don't put too much tape on the wrapping paper, so it's easy to open. If you get anything attatched to the box, prior to wrapping it, open it up and detatch it, stick it back in box and wrap it. so when he opens it and wants to play with it, he can just get it out. Also, if it needs batteries, put them in before. Also, whatever you get, just know the big empty box will always be funner to play in.

I would get him a number of things that would hold value as he gets older. Sports mem, bonds, stocks, college found. Maybe get him a bunch of rookie cards from the year he was born, when he is an old man they might be worth something.

@radar That's funny that you mentioned rookie cards, his birth announcement was a trading card.  I've actually been contemplating doing the 22kt Gold Babe Ruth card.
