Really...is there nothing better to complain about?

If I don't dress like that and I don't want my children to think it's okay to dress like that, then, why put stuff in front of their eyes that promotes that it is acceptable.

 Those pics of Wonder Woman are from the 70's.  My mom never dressed like Wonder Woman, I never dressed like Wonder Woman (though I did have the kiddie version costume for school party one year and it was modest).  I never thought it was proper to dress like that because I was taught I would see alot of wordly things, but that didn't mean I needed to be a part of it...so I knew better.   We each have different personal values and views about what is appropriate, it doesn't mean I dress like a hooker or approve of immodest dress, and I'm NOT a Katy Perry fan... I just don't see what the fuss is about if someone wants to dress like a Barbie doll for tv.  [There are bridal gowns that resemble Katy Perry's Sesame Street dress...does that mean small children shouldn't attend weddings if the gown are made as such?  These parents complaining...do they wear modest swimsuits/shorts/tank tops in front of their children or is it ok for parents to have all their stuff hanging out and it's just Katy Perry's outfit that is a problem?]  Anyway, Sesame Street pulled the clip---shame on them for not requiring everyone wear turtlenecks & saving everyone from the whole ordeal.

My grandma would say "If you dress like a lady, don't be surprised if your treated like one".

Firstly, I hope you know that I wasn't implying that you dress like a hooker. If you thought that, I apologize.

A wedding is not comparable to a children's program. And honestly I have never been to a wedding where the bride wore a dress that showed a lot of cleavage. But even if I had, I don't expect a wedding to be oriented for children. It is an adult event, so if I choose to take my children than I risk them seeing or hearing things that may be inappropriate. When I sit them down in front of a child's tv program I should be able to expect that what they will see is appropriate for them.

I do wear modest swimsuits, I don't wear shorts, and I don't "hang out" of my clothes around them. This is my personal conviction for modesty and I'm not trying to say that someone who does differently is wrong....but when it comes to children I think there should be a universal idea about what is appropriate for them (in the media). A producer of a children's program has to take into account the diverse backgrounds of people watching and be sensitive to a child's educational needs. Since the response to this was overwhelming enough to cause them to pull it, I am obviously not in the minority in thinking it was a bit much for a child's program.

Like addressed before, the studio/producers of the show should have a dress code in place since it is a popular child's show.  Every TV Event featuring guest stars send out a pre-agreement (contract) with all requirements and requests.  The guest(s), or their Agent fills it out with what/what not to talk about (Taboo subjects, etc.).  Katy's Agent should have perused this agreement (contract) with Katy before she ever went on, or Sesame Street didn't send it.  Someone dropped the ball.

I subscribe to a fashion magazine, and when I pulled it out of my mailbox, the back advertisement caught my eye.  It pictured 2 half clad people in a compromising position.  It was an advertisement for perfume.  I was horrified to think my mailman (who knows I'm a Rev.), would have seen that while inserting it in my box.   I guess I'll have to request a brown wrapper.

My dad would always send my mom to the store for his cigarettes and she said about half the time someone from church would see her buying them and even though they didn't ask her about it, she got all flustered and said "OH these are for my husband not me, no I don't my smoke, these aren't for me you know." LOL she always came home and threw the cigs at my dad and yelled at him for making her look like a sinner to her church family.

The people who saw her, may or may not have been judging her but she was still upset that it looked bad on her. Finally she told my dad he could buy his own cigarettes and she never bought them for him again lol.

LOL.......Kinda like your just going to pop into the store for 1 thing late at night (almost midnight) sure that nobody would be out that late.  Your in your house cleaning clothes with your hair not quite right (a mess).  Sure enough EVERY TIME........someone you know is there to say hi just up the next aisle.

I believe parents should raise their kids not shows and find something better to complain about it is really silly that people will complain about something so stupid..My kids see worse than that going to the beach or store..

Annella, don't you think your mailman has seen at least one fashion magazine in his life? If he has, then I am fairly sure he has seen all the photos in those that are less than chaste, to say the least. Do you really think he actually has the time to even notice the pics on the covers (front or back) - and if he does, do you really think he would 'look down' on you for it?! I hope he doesn't know you have a son because that means you have had 'relations' with a man! I'm not picking on you, honestly I am not, I just found that so funny about going to the extreme of brown paper wrapping. You're a human and it's not like he sees catalogues for pornography or 'toys'.....and I know there ARE clergy out there who have those delivered!

I don't think I'm being *bleep*. And shows don't raise my kids. I raise my kids and that's why I have right to voice that I find the skit inappropriate. My kids have seen worse than that in public, however the world IS NOT kid friendly. I cannot expect everyone on the street to dress the way I think they should. BUT as a CHILDREN'S PROGRAM, I should be able to expect child appropriate material. (I don't see why people keep comparing other things that have nothing to do with a child oriented, place, media, or activity??)

You can disagree about it being appropriate but you have to accept that people have different ideas about what appropriate is and for what age. As a public television program geared towards children; parents have a right to say they didn't like it for their kids. It's like everyone trying to say to stop stuffing religion down kids throats.....you have a right to expect that a public (religion neutral program) isn't going to start asking kids to pray to Jesus. I have a right to expect that inappropriate clothing isn't going to be displayed in front of their eyes!

It's not like it's important to the others who didn't see a problem, to show the clip. It's not like you're saying "I WANT my kid to see Katy Perry on Sesame Street".....so why get all disgruntled with someone who didn't like it and asks that Sesame Street be more sensitive to it's more modest viewing households?

I am not saying you are *bleep*..But seriously kids do not see things the way adults do..My 5 year old was more interested in Elmo then Katy Perry she was excited she knew the song thats it boobies outfit never came into that innocent mind..I watched Sesame street as a kid and I remember a singer in a tank top with major cleavage did not mess me up..It is the human body not this horrible thing..And yes you have every right to not let your kids watch it but it should be up to the parents not be pulled..I understand we all have different views on this and other topics..But why should parents and kids be punished for others views,that seems unfair like I am being told what is right or wrong by others..We live in a different society and well you dont agree with something shown on any type of show you have the right to turn it off...That is what I mean by *bleep* wrong out right it is a individual choice and should not be forced because someone else dislikes it..Please understand I respect your choice so respect mine by not taking something I see nothing wrong with away!! So you are saying you wouldn't have a problem if Big Bird had a segment where he talked about Jesus and showed pictures of him on the cross, and told kids to pray to Jesus for salvation? Cuz, see I wouldn't have a problem with that, but I understand that others would and would not say they are *bleep* for asking it to be removed.

Sesame Street is not a religious program and they should respect that all viewers do not believe in Jesus. According to the article it doesn't even say parents asked it be pulled, but they were upset about the clip and Sesame Street pulled it on their own.

I could just turn the show off, however, I think I shouldn't have to be concerned if I leave the room that my child will see or hear something inappropriate at any point. I didn't turn on Family Guy for them to watch, I put on Sesame Street. I should be able to have assurance that they are seeing child appropriate things.
