A hobo with one leg can have a good life. A man with a billion dollars can have a terrible life. It's all in the eye of the beholder!

Statistically, an income of $75,000 buys what a person needs to have a quality life (housing & decent schools in a safe neighborhood, health insurance, dentists, glasses, healthy food, etc.), leaving enough for savings, a child's college tuition, and the occasional modest vacation. Past that amount, happiness does not improve. $100,000 or $100,000,000,000.......your income will not make a difference to your happiness.

Well I bring in less then 12 grand a year, own two vehicles and have money in the bank. My home is paid off, I have purchased 3, 1/4 acre lots last fall with a monthly payment of 155 bucks per month, I bought 2 more lots last month and paid cash for them and will be getting rid of the first three along with the payments next month bringing my total monthly bills down to just over 100 bucks not including groceries or gas for my pick-up. I live totally off-grid with solar power. I constructed the system myself and paid for each component as I went. I grow and hunt/forage for probably 75% of my food and preserve excess when in season for sustenance when its not. I have small livestock. I haven't owned a television in years(who needs it when you have FC? ;o) go to town only a couple times a month, and heat ultra-cheaply with a woodstove which also serves as my cookstove in colder months. I am very frugal, anti-capitalist and quite content.

I guess it all boils down to priorities.

The only potential problem I see is you probably don't have a Walmart close by so I could spend all my free gift cards.

This is the most badass thing I've heard in a while. No, seriously. Bad. *bleep*.

I implore this too. I've noticed this major materialistic difference between american and foreign women.

They think money = happiness. They don't understand how to "get happiness" for themselves so they fill it with something else.

That which can be asserted without evidence, can be dismissed without evidence.

You can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into in the first place.

So they can live comfortably without suffering.

Exactly! I agree that money does not buy happiness but if you're struggling for the 3 basic necessities, shelter, food and clothing, it can be painful.

If we're dreaming... and I was a millionaire lol I would make sure my family members had paid off houses and then I would open a business; it doesn't have to bring in tons of money because that alone would make me happy - doing something that I love.

It is not how much money you have to have a good life.  It is all about being happy and content with what you do have.  Money can't buy you love, hope, freedom, religion, etc..  It all lies within your soul, heart and mind.  If you are living the best you can and are happy, you have enough of everything you need.
