Usually there is a fee.  It can range anywhere from $3-$8 typically.  Walmart charges around $3 I believe.

Yes i you want to just cash the check Walmart has the cheapest fee.

I've only had totally free checking accounts. I don't have to keep a certain amount in there, and I've never had to pay any start-up fees. My savings account requires me to keep $5 in it, though! lol I don't think that's too unreasonable. I bank at Navy Federal right now, but have also banked at Wells Fargo, USAA, Heritage, and U.S. Bank.

There are banks in my area that only need a dollar to keep an account open, but there are some that are up to 100 guess it all depends on the bank/credit union, try calling around and asking how much is need to open a checking/savings you may be surprised

Well Why not use your first FC check to open a bank account :) That way it wont be out of pocket and after that you can set up direct deposit or use your new bank acocunt to set up a verified paypal account and get your money through there   :wave:

Most likely get a fee added or take it to Wal mart but once again a fee like 3 dollars
