How did you go about "training" your children to take a nap?

My grandmother trained my kids to take a nap when she was still alive. They had so much fun at her house they needed one.

I found repetition and being consistent. I always put her down at the same time and go through the same process, we change diaper then we sing 2 songs while I rub her back and then I tell her its nap time and walk out, sometimes she cries sometimes she talks to her self for a few minutes but she always goes to sleep.  She is normally up at 8am so i put her down at 1 for her nap.

I don't know, but my mom must have done a good job. I'm 72 and I still take one every day.

If they are tired they are tired but you can not force someone to sleep. Do you like to lay still when you are not tired?

by habit of putting them down every day at the same time so that they get into a routine.

I can understand that however before him my hobby was napping lol  I guess our issue is that when he does nap it's only for 20 min increments.  I can usually get him down at 10am for sure - shower time for me but for the rest of the day he would rather be awake.  I think we are going to have to start the here's room at 3pm even if you're awake you're staying in there til 4 and maybe he'll get it.  Thanks for all your advice everyone!
