stop sending americas jobs overseas, become self sufficient nation... that will create jobs and lesson crime

It is so easy to say "stop sending America's jobs overseas" but it won't make our lives any better.  There are reasons why globalization works.  If you really want to take a look at something, let's take a look at the top of these major American corporations.  Everyone is out to get more money...they want generational wealth...enough money that their great grand kids will still be living off it.

Meanwhile, the rest of us are struggling, driving for 20 hour shifts cross country to deliver goods for a meager wage, working in gas stations, truck stops, fast food, and any other service job at minimum wage...wait staff makes less than minimum wage because they get tips.  How much sense does that make?  Applebees gets to pay their servers less than $5 an hour, overcharges you for your meal, and then expects you to pay their employees' salary...which, if the tip is left by credit card, it gets taxed, and if it is left by cash, the server gets taxed off a percentage of your meal (I used to manage a bar and grill).  Gas station attendants make minimum wage, and in the stations where all pumps are not prepay they get charged for the drive-offs...yes, when you pump and run, many minimum wage earning gas station attendants are paying for your gas.

The only people who get paid their worth, or in all actuality more than their worth, are the big bosses of these corporations.  The problem isn't always lack of jobs, either.  Many people believe they are "too good" to work at McDonald's, when no one is above any type of work in any circumstance.  I've seen it all too often.  I've known countless people who draw unemployment or governmental aid who refuse to apply for any of the twenty job openings at fast food and other service sector companies because they don't want to work a "rinky dink" job, or they are too good to work it when they just got laid off from a job making $20 an hour.

I will hop off my soapbox now.

Those people need to get off their high horse...fast food serves a purpose; it's a lot more convenient than going to the grocery store when on the road!! (road trips)

Boo to the snobbish job "hierarchy"...there's nothing wrong with working at McDonald's (or the like) if that's what you need to do to support/what works best for your family.  I'd say its more shameful to just sit around and collect off the government.

well what if unemployment check pays the bills when a fast food check wont? I was laid off for 17 months collecting the maximum unemployment in my state.I was offered jobs for alot less than i was on unemployment and i had bills to pay. so i refused the job offers. now im working making about the same money i was before i got laid off. it was the government and the banks that put people in this situation in the first place. Why should i or anyone else who lost thier job coz banks went nuts loaning money to people who couldnt afford the loans in the first place settle for a lower paying job but with the same bills how much should people cut back? Ive worked since high school collected unemployment insurance once in my life 13 weeks when i got out of the miltary. so i see nothing shameful in collecting unemployment

Most people are brainwashed! All the hear from birth is go to school and get good grades so you can get a safe, secure job, buy a house and save your money until you retire and live the life. All they are doing is making the rich even richer as they exploit their talents. Teach people how to build their Personal Value Level so they can earn what they are worth and crime and unemployment will only be found in history books.

Don't get be wrong; if there are legitimate reasons for needing the unemployment (i.e. like you said, the jobs offered didn't cover the bills), that's cool.  What I meant was people shouldn't take advantage of the system either because they prefer not working, or the jobs they would get aren't "good enough" for them.

Crime has been a constant situation throughout history, and so has unemployment.  Sometimes it gets better, and sometimes it gets worse, I really don't think that it will ever change. It really sucks, don't get me wrong, especially if you get laid off from your job, and walk out of the office and get robbed!!!

On crime, enforce the death penalty and hard labor for the non killers.

The death penalty is not a deterrent for crime.  There are circumstances where I can say the death penalty is a valid punishment; however, it is more expensive for the government to carry out the death penalty than life imprisonment.  The money should be geared toward education instead of this type of punishment.

Life imprisonment will cost the taxpayers a lot of $ because killers can live in prison for years.
