Why are some parts of our society hung up on interracial dating & marriage?

My spouse & I are white/african american.  We encounter some individuals of the african american persuasion, that are really upset about us being together.  They have gone so far as to state that the "GOOD" black guys always go find them a white woman.  It's like they are jealous or something.

i agree. I am half "black" and half "white". my girlfriend is "black". truly race dosen't exist. species, yes. race, no.

Wow, you can't predict how all of nature chooses to procreate, there will be deviances along the way, nor can you state that different species mating with eachother is against the laws of nature. You have no Idea what goes on in the wild, especially at the microscopic level. Nature will suprise you one day, I hope you are open-minded..........

Thats just how people think. It doesn't mean they are right. People are cruel. As long as you 2 are happy and content, then screw what anyone else thinks.

Really, I don't care what they think.  We are both very happy with each other.  We always look out for each other, especially when one of us is down or hurting.  And we know we are blessed to  have each other.

Biblically, there's nothing wrong with marrying other races.  Moses married an Ethiopian woman (Black).  

What IS said is that to marry an unbeliever is to be unequally yoked.  There will be problems in the home.  He warned the Hebrew children not to marry the pagan, as they were idol worshippers, and could become a stumbling block unto them.  There were instances though that they did intermarry, when that wasn't an issue.

Marrying outside another race is not forbidden, but you'll have cultural differences, and you should be aware that your children will have to carry on the fusion of both.  Interracial offspring are commonly beautiful in appearance, and highly intelligent.

Many missionaries go into other countries and marry a converted native.  It's very common and acceptable.  I know many interracial families that are happy, and have stable marriages.

Hmm, as will an American marrying someone raised in France. That is just one example, but it can pretty much apply across the board as far as culture, language, customs, holidays, and children will have to carry on that fusion as well don't you think? I have quite a few 'couples' friends who are of different countries and I know this applies to them and their children.

Well, the statement about so-called "GOOD" black men dating white women is completely wrong, just look at Tiger Woods and O.J Simpson, LOL. There are plenty of "GOOD" black men with black women. The debate is, they're hard to find given the number of eligible black men versus black women ratio...Personally I don't have an issue with interracial relationships, I have a problem with people making up insensitive bogus excuses to why they choose to date or marry outside their race...Rather you are with someone of the opposite race out of love, preference or in many cases convenience, be happy, do you and don't worry what anyone else has to say about it hun.

Yeah, tend to agree, but I don't think I would start any fires - not worth the prison time over pure ignorance from anyone. I still don't know if the poster quoted was actually serious or just making a (very) bad joke, but I hope it's the latter of the two.....
