All I would think is that those that are prepared will fare better than those that are not, which is typical in any disaster.

Okay gotcha.

Quote
The Bible is an open book for closed minds, minds that searched everywhere for God and then found Him in a way that left no room for guess.  Only a fool would keep searching after they found what they were looking for. The Bible is also a book for open minded people, people searching.  It's not a book for those with "limited minds" as they've already decided what the answers are based on never really understanding the Book & what-not.  How could one look at Bible prophecy of the end times and NOT see science, history or facts?  You never looked, did you?     You got those "house shutters and roof shingles blowing past your window" and you won't even look.  LOL

'A fool would keep searching after they found what they were looking for'...if I may make an analogy--
"This man died immediatly after eating a tomato. Therefore no one should eat tomatoes. Spread the word."
"But shouldn't we do some further research on the findings? Maybe do some tests? Maybe it's something else that killed this man? After all, he was old and unhealthy."
"No. It takes away from the obvious and undeniable results that took place."

Jehovahs Witnesses use similar reasoning. They look for the bad and imperfections happening within culture and capitalize upon them by linking them to biblical prophecy-- they don't look any further than that. That sounds a bit foolish, does it not? If I may borrow a line from C. S. Lewis-- Something is lost when someone walls off an entire area of inquiry, especially when that area of inquiry impacts all the other intellectual pursuits.

...and no, I'm not calling you foolish. I'm just saying there's a fallacy with what you said in that paragraph. It seems off.

Scientific proof has been addressed in Sherena's post above.  Since you don't believe the Bible, there is no way for you to argue or debate against it, because the very thing your accusing Sheryl, your turning it around and using the argument on her, by twisting her words.

I completely understand what you're saying now (thx for explanation), but on that note how has JC stood the tests of modern technology (and, on that note, skepticism)? It's fairly easy to prove that there's massive problems and gaps within the story-- specifically the links to other similar stories that came before him (I won't bother going into it too far because it'll be my 50th time explaining it on this forum...). From my pov, it seems as if Christians are still stuck at "the tomato killed him. spread the word." metaphor when it comes to questioning their findings because they don't seem to be acknowledging many of the contradictions and skeptical findings within the story.

Sorry but the bible is pure contradiction...It just has you waiting and hoping for what is bound to happen.
It is basically an open book for closed minded. Far from facts and science!
Harse but I just fail to see any fact or science there.  ::)
The Bible doesn't have me waiting OR hoping for what is bound to happen as I still have too many "people's" that are unprepared. You never looked, did you?   ;)  You got those "house shutters and roof shingles blowing past your window" and you won't even look.  LOL     (Annella     thanks.  Not trying to "win", just telling my neighbors there's a severe weather watch in effect for all areas.)

Only one with the shutters on is you. It is an open book as there are no dates for said events and therefore have you waiting for something that is most likely going to happen. Thats pretty silly!
The bible is a an open book as it can be interpreted many different ways depending on who is reading it!

I have faith in myself as I never needed help from an outside source to better myself or my family, but that in no way makes this a topic I can't understand! Or limits me!

Your history book does not predict the future with facts as you are claim just gives a generic glimspe that a grade schooler could have came up with.

Lets see now....You've called us silly, delegated our Bible to a mere history book, and then referred us as having the mentality of a grade schooler.  It's amazing to me when someone cannot really give a good logical answer to something, they revert to verbal intimidation.

Again....you don't believe Bible Prophecy.....we do.  There's no argument here.  If you have faith in yourself.  Fine. We have Faith in God and His written Word.  Simple.

This quote was from hwilliams but anyone that knows the answer can feel free to answer my question.  Question:  Name a grade schooler who's written a book that is close to being as old as the Bible, which contains "predictions" that have happened with 100% accuracy.  Or name an adult.  Or even name someone who has written a book like that then where the book is at least 200 years old.  Nostradamus tried... even he wasn't 100% accurate.  Everyone can see where some of his predictions fell short.....yet the Bible's predictions are still 100% accurate after all these years.  When I study Bible prophecy and then look at the news, the weather reports, the world's condition I find that what the Bible predicted is more accurate today than ever.  (Note: this grade schooler (or other author) will get bonus points from me if their book also contains a "code" that seems just half as brilliant as the Bible Code.)   ;)  I'm not saying all of what has been printed about the Bible code is 100% as it's still being studied, but what they are finding is still fascinating when one considers how old the Bible is... and noone has ever written anything more magnificent to date even considering how far education has advanced.  Could YOU write a book just 200 years into the future with predictions that far ahead and be 100% accurate?  It was done in the Bible and the Bible is much older than that.

Common sense is not that common with you!
Never said your histroy book was writen by a grade schooler. Just stated that the generic predictions you blindly hold as fact were written for the simple minded to come to their own conclusion...which you clearly have.

Sheryl-- I'm curious as to your knowledge of these apparent 100% perfect predictions. To be 100% perfect in a prediction would have to have every single aspect of one prediction outlined to the millisecond (example- at 4:03:28 this friday I will open the door to my car and a kite will hit me in the head). Are these predictions like that or is there room for skepticism and speculation?
