Nope im just not going to set here and read how people are mean to her. If she would stop shoving god down peoples throats maybe no one would treat her as if she was a lunatic. Im not trying to convert people into thinking another way, but people do have different ways of life!

Yeah take that...how can I shove him down your throat...quit talking about God then!

If you can't take the heat, get the hell out of the kitchen.

It is SIT*
Keep it up I can go rounds if you make sense.

marieelissa  I have gave you chance after chance when people put you down I stood up for you. It pisses me off how you think you can belittle people on your words of atheism. You my dear do have problems and it hurts you that I voiced my opinion. Grow up and maybe I will not have to post such things on here.

Amy, I was responding to the thread you started.  I got involved in it and it went from there.  You later wrote why you started the thread (because of Marie.)  Since you did not indicate that when you started the thread, naturally people are going to respond in their way and get involved.  I took this as a serious topic, as did others, and am not the least bit humored that it was started simply to goad someone else. You might notate next time you start one, that it is directed to so and so, and then I'll stay out of it.  When I see an opportunity to defend my faith, I take it serious.

What do they have? A thousands-year-old book filled with stories of talking snakes, global floods, and dead people coming back to life that was written by superstitious sheep herders who didn't have the benefit of modern science with which to understand the world. They also have faith. Faith based on this ancient book, and nothing else. This is a very tenuous position to say the least.

I have VISIONS, I have God ANSWERING PRAYERS, I have myself asking QUESTIONS and GOD ANSWERING THEM... I have spirtual encounters...I have lots of supernatural things going on...sometimes it is bad...but mostly, beautiful.

Go ahead call me what you want, I have reasons to speak as if God is real...while others HOPE?
Well good for you but again what about the millions of children praying to get help with food, with parents?? What about all the "prayers" gone un answered? What makes you more important to god than others?

Are they children of God? I know since I was a toddler, I have know about him.

Are you saying G-d only cares about the children that believe?

It was a question...you have to study it to understand.

I have studied.  I think you don't understand, honestly.  G-d loves children; they are innocent.  For you to claim you have a higher connection to g-d than these children that are suffering is offensive, honestly.

I was also curious...does anyone have my experiences? Nope, guess not...so guess what...I am nuts, but guess what, the only way God will ever be real is if you are nuts....Good day.

I haven't had experiences like what you have had, but I've had my experiences that lead me to believe g-d exists.  Call it a hunch or superstition, or a rationalization even.  Someone once said to me that you'll see it when you believe it, that the other way around is  :bs: and I tend to agree.  From the first moment I stepped into my temple, I felt peace and at home.  My best friend, on the other hand, is uncomfortable when she enters the temple (she's Pentecostal).  Religion is a personal thing...

I'm not nuts; I have ptsd and mdd branched off from ppd, but that doesn't make me crazy.  It makes me sad and a little jumpy.

to say thinking God is real makes you "nuts" is probably a reason Christians get defensive with you, no ones telling you that you're nuts because you don't believe in God so responding in that way comes off extremely rude

The more I read posts on this thread the more I realize many of you could care less about debating the issue and would rather insult one another...one thing I've realized in debates, political ones in particular, is that when someone runs out of arguments they tend to resort to personal attacks. It really just makes the party look ignorant rather than that they know what they're talking about. Maybe before posting a hateful comment you should think about how others will percieve you and your intelligence afterwards, this is the internet so we don't know you...all we have to go by is what is said on here and in many of these posts people aren't making themselves out to be much more than petty and cruel.

Related to the above, some will try to argue that christians hate atheists. To be honest, some christians might indeed hate atheists. This statement cannot, however be made in general. Some christians might hate atheists. Some might hate atheism but not atheists themselves.

Most christians do not hate atheists. It is true that many christians may get frustrated or angry at some atheists behavior, especially in forums for christians. It is all too common for atheists to come in and start making fun of or ranting, and that gets people upset. But this is not the same as hating atheists. Indeed, it is actually rather rude to make false general statements such as "christians hate atheists" just because some christians have acted improperly If you would like to have any constructive discourse on christian forums, it would be best if you avoided statements like this

This whole deal started after I left last night. I just got on and see 6 pages of nonsense. The 2 things that made sense? The above (obvious) 'copy and paste job' from marieelissa and walksalone's pic. :confused1:

I do not know many atheists, but I do know one who changed his mind in a heart-beat.  He was always talking the way you do and people just kind of gave up on him.  We knew a situation would come along that would change his mind sooner or later.  By the way, it happened sooner than later.

As a Commander in Iraq, I had my own helicopter at my disposal.  Quite frequently, I used it to visit my soldiers in the heat of battle.  Everytime I boarded the helicopter, I knew I had a pretty good chance of getting shot down.  On one visit, I needed this Airborne trooper because of his expertise in small arms repairs.  One of my units had three machineguns that were in-operable because of broken parts.  I needed the soldier to fix the weapons and he had the parts to get the job done.

Three quarters of the way to the landing zone, we were hit by numerous small arms fire.  Bullets were flying around in the cockpit and in the passenger area.  All of a sudden, we were spinning rapidly downward towards the ground.  I got my bearing for a few moments, saw the cockpit all smoked in, and knew we were getting ready to crash land.  Everyone was screaming except the two pilots and myself.  The pilots were focused on the landing and I was focused on God.  I said all of my good-byes, and thanked the good Lord for a wonder life and family and waited for impact.

We did crash land.  No one was injured too badly.  The pilots had done their jobs and save our lives.  Once off the bird, I asked all of them what was going through their minds.  Each and everyone of them said, "GOD".

Yup, I've heard it said more than once:  "There's no athiests in the fox holes".  This was a common saying during WWII.

Prove that I am in a cult.

Proof that you are in a cult
(originally posted by ME in: "Logical Arguments Against the Existence of God"):

Defining Factors of a Cult -- Does Christianity fit the bill?

1) People are put in physical or emotionally distressing situations  CHECK (Christianity tells you that you're sinful and will burn in hell if you don't devote your life to Jesus)
2) Their problems are reduced to one simple explanation, which is repeatedly emphasized  CHECK (Original Sin ring a bell?)
3) They receive unconditional love, acceptance, and attention from a charismatic leader or group  CHECK (Jesus, their pastor, their fellow Christians)
4) They get a new identity based on the group  CHECK ("Born again", "saved", "new life in Jesus")
5) They are subject to entrapment (isolation from friends, relatives and the mainstream culture) and their access to information is severely controlled  CHECK (Christians reject real science and civil rights and stick to the Bible)

CULT SCORE: 5/5
