Old school metal lunch boxes
« on: August 12, 2010, 06:31:57 pm »
I totally want one.  I was in Goodwill the other day and saw a metal Old Navy lunch box and it made me reminisce about carrying a lunch box in elementary school.  The one I remember the most was a light blue Disney lunch box with a lot of the Disney characters.  I remember using it to hold my crayons.  I totally want a metal lunch box now.   What kind did you have?

When I attended on a school field trip, I carried an old Holly Hobby lunch box. It's very cute. It also came with a small thermo for drinks. Although the material is metal, I can still remember the distinctive smell of sandwiches inside the lunch box.  ;D

I was psyched to find this link. It was the same lunch box that I had when I was a little girl.

It look just like this one : http://cutest-little-things.blogspot.com/2010/01/old-school-lunch-boxes.html

I totally had that for a year or two!  I also, if I recall, had a Thundercats and Voltron with the included thermos!

i saw the lunchboxes themselves at old navy and
thought they were pretty cute, but the original ones
are much cooler (i agree!) ... between my fiance and
i, we own a few! i have a smurf lunchbox that i found
at a flea market for $3. i really couldn't pass it up.

i also have an 'i love lucy' one, but its not an oldie.
it was a present from a few years ago that i haven't
been able to part with  :P

I felt really important having a thermos, too!!!

me too. the word "thermos" made it sound important.
i loved it because my dad had one that he'd take to
work when i was little, too.
[ we all have a place in history. mine is in the clouds. ]

The only metal lunch box that I can remember was a red plaid one.
Boy was my mom mad when I used it to sit on and sled down the
street on my way to school.
I think after that I only got paper bags.

I carried little brown "sack lunch" bags.  I would have loved a metal lunch box!
