They do that here too, in VA. But they gather at the Shoneys here.
Sometimes half of the Wal Mart parking lot is packed with the classic/muscle cars. I always stop to gander at em.

[/quote]  I miss Cruisin' The Coast . :( Heck I miss the Mississippi Gulf Coast period. But It is sad to go home now because nothing will ever be the same since most of what I grew up with was lost in Katrina.

Wow, in my line of work. That was pretty insensitive of you to say yet funny @ the same time.
But sorry, I'm of Italian descent, NOT oriental! ;D

;D .... glad you liked it.

i like animals too. but given the choice of saving a poor cow or eating it, i'll eat that *bleep*.

cats, dogs and horses, however.... are a different story.

BUT... if thats what i've known my entire life, i guess that wouldnt be a problem for me either.

Exactly! I was raised on a 200 acre Farm (only 10 acres was used for livestock). And we butchered & prepared our own meats for food and sale: Cows, pigs, goats, chickens, ducks, geese, lambs & turkeys.
Dad was away a lot (I was raised by a strict Military family). And getting up at 5am to gather eggs from the chicken coops & slopping the pigs before I had to begin my walk to school by 6:30am was an everyday occurance to me.

My foster Mom & I tended to the farm by oursleves while my Dad was away. So I was taught at an early age how to operate and maintain a farm...EVERY aspect of it. I was also taught how to hunt; deer, coon, etc. And I love to fish!

There is a difference between animals for food and animals as pets. Another thing I was taught at an early age- NEVER name or get close to any farm animal b/c in the end, he/she will become your meal!

my grandparents both grew up on farms.... and would say the same thing about animals/pets.

MOST americans today have no idea of that life... it was a pleasure to hear them speak of it.

my grandfather would tell of getting up... eating a huge meal.... go to work in the fields.... have a huge lunch.... come home and eat a huge dinner.... really all you can eat type meals.

but.... no one was fat... grandpa said you didnt even see a fat person unless you went into a city.... and they were rare.

progress isnt necessarily all progress.

My Fav is down in Tampa called The Villa Rina. They have the best steak and cheese subs. The juices that drip off it are so good you lick the paper it came in.Now I'm in PA and haven't found a good steak and cheese sub. :-[
