The older I get, the more I've learned to simplify my life.  Once you get used to having less, you don't miss it.  I spend my extra savings on vacations in foreign locals.  Not just for 2 weeks either.  For 2-4 months.  Being tied to your possessions, and the maintenance, money, space, etc., to have them, is a headache.

There are things that nobody can live without, like food and clothing.  Everything else can be compromised, and bought cheaply.  You'd be surprised how frugal you can live.  Of course I don't have children at home any more, so that does make a big difference.

I think that you could live with alot less than 100 things and still be happy.  To much emphasis is put on "what you have"  I try to appreciate the things that i do have but i have also been elimating alot of things.

Wow very interesting article! A good topic of discussion also. I don't know if I could do it, but it's kind of motivating to give it a go! I've found that over the years (and there hasn't been that many yet!) stuff is easier to get rid of than before. I used to be "emotionally attached" to just about every item I owned.

I'd have to do it kind of in a sense that one lady did it-counting all her shoes as one item-I'd have to count all my envelopes as one item, all my multiples of shipping supplies as one item, all of my items I need to list on Ebay as one item, or I'd be at about 300 items already. But other than that I think it could possibly be done for myself and my hubby.

After all, you can't take it with you anyways.

I suppose I could if I had to, but I would prefer not to. I have hundreds of books that I love.

Come on now, isn't that downright ridiculous to say? I have never heard or seen anyone have food, clothing, water, shelter, electricity, heat, money, or any other necessary 'things' dropped into someone's lap out of nowhere simply because they believed and/or prayed. Statements like that take away all credibility for the person making them.

Oh I've prayed for specific needs, and the Lord has provided them.  In fact, the Lord is the reason I live as well as I do.  All things come from Him.  Our very life is from Him.  While you say you've never seen the "necessary" things dropped in someone's lap simply because they prayed......I disagree.  I've seen God provide over and over again the ways and means in someone's life, where there was no way.  Jobs, money, food, rent, etc., He provides.
