Your aunt sounds like she's being very selfish, expecting you to respect her side while she does not respect your side.  But if it helps to keep your relationship from becoming sour, then maybe it would be worth putting in another $5.  But if you are willing to put your foot down on this type of attitude/behavior, then stand your ground respectfully. Personally, I like peace within the family.

I have been in your position before, it's going to be tough for you to get through to her.
She is going to try to make you feel like dirt about not adding an extra couple bucks. What you really need to do is ignore whatever guilt trips she wants to put you through.
Tell her to take your $20 or find someone else to fit your part in that large gift.
If she tries to make you upset then simply tell her as an Adult I am doing what I should...taking care of my needs and my families needs before someone's luxuries.
Spending $5-$10 extra dollars might not seem much to her but tell her when your jobless every penny counts towards taking care of your families needs.
If she is soooo concerned about the $5 she can put that money up herself. :)

Tell her you'll get your cousin's fiancee your own gift and then give her a handmade card  :angel12:
