Why do you even waste your time?  If the rare chance I make a mistake and pick up the phone (if I don't know the # I will not answer) as soon as I hear it's a computer I hang up.

I hate these things! Some just say "this is for telemarketing purposes" and that is all you get. Leaves you wondering "what the heck just happened?"

I don't care who the telemarketer is or what their status in life is. If I didn't initiate the call for a service then who gives them the right to cal me? I am tired of people preying on others in order to make a quick buck. When I come home from work phone calls from annoying telemarkers are the last thing I want to hear. I don't answer my phone if I don't recognize the number and thats that.

I hear you on the live telemarketers, I did this job, and it wasn't good when people would yell obscenities at me, think about the person that is just trying to make a living and be courteous next time all of you pick up phone, it is nice to be polite. But when a robot calls me, yeah, if they are not going to spend the money to hire someone and give them a job, they are trying to save money, I certainly am not interested in what they have to say, or especially waiting on someone who called me to get on the line.

If I don't recognize the number, I ignore it, then copy and paste the number to one of my BlackBerry address listings where I have the ringer on mute. I must say I have quite a lot of those listings. The "do not call" list just doesn't stay updated.

Totally I mean caller ID has saved my life. But if the phone keeps ringing you gotta yank the phone line out, but still.

I like caller ID, my phone yells out the number and also have a caller ID window, that works if I am away from the phone I don't have to run and look at the number. I only answer when I know the number.

I do feel sorry for people that try to make a living calling folks, even the ones that are collecting from a collection agency. I hope and pray I don't have to ever survive on a job like that.  :peace:

I hate automated phone calls!   Sometimes I wait until a live person gets on (ie: please hold for a very important  message)  & as soo as the person says hello to confirm I am there I say (as if they werent there) "If this call was THAT imortant they would have a REAL person call me personally not a robot" & hang up.

I usually get a live personfrom that point on.

I keep my landline hooked up to a fax machine. The robots give up after awhile.

Well, there is a reason for the  National Do Not Call Registry https://www.donotcall.gov.  For anyone who signs up with this telemarketers can no longer call you on this after 31 days on this registry.  There is also who calls me a Reverse Phone Number Look-up service at http://whocallsme.com.  And then you want you can vent like I did: http://800notes.com about the reverse call you received.  Simple! Easy! No cursing people out, pressing buttons to opt out (that BTW, don't do anything) or getting annoying phone calls every time to eat dinner.

This was my recent vent from a call, I received on my cell-phone after the number was placed on the National Do Not Call Registry:

Oh yeah, @Karenkpc, I'm sharing that FTC info about Robot telemarketers on my FB page.
