Day IN Day Out
« on: June 16, 2010, 09:05:56 am »
I get so tired doing the same thing day in and day out. I'm doing different things each day, I guess I'm just tired of it all. I'm not able to work any more and I hate that. What I want to know is what everyone is doing to keep them self busy.

I hear you...I'm in the same position for the time being.  I read, do research on the internet, am teaching myself how to crochet, walk, do puzzles of all kinds to keep my mind sharp, and make sure that I learn how to do something new every day.  doesn't matter what it is.

My job is keeping me plenty busy we are short of people and they are working the ones left like slaves.  In fact they took four of my days off away from me but they are giving two of them back the end of the month.  I can't get any extra time off because there is no one to take extra shifts.

You probably need a change of scenery.  Can you take a day trip somewhere?  Find new activities in your area.  This is a great time for outdoor festivals and a lot of them are free.  Take up a new hobby.

For now I am staying home killing time...my days usually consist of cleaning, playing on the wii, on the internet, walking, and sometimes we go on a trip. I am still looking for work so far I havent been able to found one!

I understand that.  I work part time but have had surgery on my knee so I am not working a lot and my boyfriend just took a new job and is away from home so I am looking for something to occupy my time.  In my spare time I have been crocheting, and collecting recipes.  No I am looking for some kind of typing work on the internet that I could get paid to do from home.  Hoping all of this will keep me from being so bored.

Hey Robin, I hear ya.  After I retired the ample hours of doing nothing drove me crazy.  Surf the net, watch DVD's, ect......., but right now, I'm making crafts, and collecting candy recipes for holiday bazaars that will be coming up starting this Fall.  Believe it or not, you can make good money doing this part-time.  Tables spaces don't cost much, and some people do this full time by following the bazaar/flea market circuits across the Nation.  Can you bake?  Make Candy?  Sew?  All these things can make you some money, and occupy your time.  I also like to pander over travel magazines and websites.  Plan a great vacation.  It's a goal you can work toward.  That's where all my extra bazaar/flea market money goes to.  You can also volunteer at different agencies.  Pick one that you really like, or it will be drudgery after awhile.  I love the Library myself because books are something I love.  Have you always wanted to do flower arranging, learn to make ice cream commercially, or some other occupation you've dreamed of?  Some businesses will let you learn the craft free of charge if you work for them.  Who knows, it might help you land a job you only dreamed of.  Your local area probably has tourist sites you've never seen.  Visit your visitors center or Chamber of Commerce, and gather a wealth of information what to do and see around your area.

set out to do something to  make you better or to give back to someone else.
volunteer for an organization that means something to you
spend more time with family friends
exercise or find something that you enjoy doing

i don't have much free time -- I have a busy job and a 2 year old son.
In my free time i try to do something to enhance myself and/or my family

I answer surveys, write a couple of Blogs, stay in touch with old friends on Facebook, Play free online games at a dozen different sites, Take pictures of my cats and play with them in Picasa. I don't have time to worry about being bored even though I been unable to  work for the past seven years. I'm doing something different every hour. And if nothing else :bootyshake:, there's always light exercise

that's exactly my story. and you know, with so many people
out of work, would you ever imagine that any business could
be short handed? it just doesn't add up...

i'm so tired on my days off that i don't want to do anything
and just be left alone -- but i also want to take advantage of
it and spend time with people or do something, since i never
seem to find the time. aye aye aye.

its a vicious cycle! one of these days, i'm gonna invent something
as stupid as those rubber animal bracelets and sit back and cackle.

 ;D

I stopped working in December ... prior to that I had been on a 3 month leave and came back for 1 month.  I have 2 bad discs in my back and I was in physical therapy which helped alot.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE not working.  I have so much to keep me busy I always run out of time or energy before I get what I wanted to done.  I love to clean house, shop, cook, bake, take walks, work in my garden, play wii, go to lunch with my ex co-workers, visit my parents and do things for them which takes a lot of my time..... I just am so thankful that I am able to do most everything I want to do and I am not sitting behind a desk 8 hours a day.... I get online for about an hour or 2 a day and sometimes work on a putting together a DVD slide show of my pictures.... SO much to do so little time.  I try to start my day each morning reading the bible and drinking a cup of coffee ... a little time with God helps more than anything.....I wish you luck.
