Worst sickness you ever had?

The worst for me was when I had my gall bladder out.  Those attacks made me so sick.  It was terrible.  My stomach ached so bad and nothing I did helped.

Consider myself fortunate that the worse health problem I had was curable:  had a mitral value prolapse -- required open heart surgery -- -- in hospital 7 days and then 3 months of recovery to let everything heal.  Came through okay, but am still careful about overtaxing myself.

Modern medicine is pretty great and getting better, but we keep coming up with new health problems all the time.  Alzheimer's is going to be the biggest problem for us baby boomers as we age.  Hope they find a cure!

When I was in second grade I had mono, strep throat, and the flu at the same time.

my worst was undoubtedly when I had an appendicitis attack. I begged them to take it out anaesthesia or not.

i've thrown up for the pat 3 and 1/2 days because i ate expired cookiedough icecream....everytime i ate i puked...mom threatened to drag me to the hospital.....Did u have something worse?

I have a bad headache ever.... It last me days even weeks... I could bang my head to the wall to get it away... and none of them help... Still now sometime it appear.

Couple of months ago, I went to a casino, inhaled a lot of smoke, was sick for weeks with a terrible cough and sore throat. Went to the doctors and they tested for strep and said it was negative and told me to just rest because there wasn't anything they could treat. A few days later, my throat was swollen and I couldn't eat, sleep, or drink anything. I went back in and they sent me straight to the ER - I was dehydrated and literally looked miserable and sick. They ended up taking out my tonsils and discovered that I had an infection in my throat (had to drain out an abscess during the tonsillectomy too).

They tossed around the idea that I may have had mono or strep, but they did several tests and were never able to tell me which it was or if it was either.  :-

Besides this, I'd have to say recurrent migraine headaches are a nightmare. It's extremely dehabilitating because you can't do anything but try to sleep it off which is difficult too.

got really sick with stomach flu. From that point on I can't tolerate milk products. The docs staid it would go away. I am still waiting.

Ulcer! I thought I was going to lose my right leg when I saw pus coming out of the injury everyday 20 years ago! that really freaked me out for a long while before it was recoved.

I was given an antibotic that I was allergic to in the hospital when I went in to deliver my third child.  I had just told the head nurse who was admitting me that I was allergic to almost every kind of antibiotic and there was only one I could take but I was unsure of how to pronounce the name so she went to call my family physician to find out what it was and they gave me a shot to prolong delivery.  Needless to say my daughter was coming shot or no shot but was gonna have to be delivered C-section because of the amount of times the cord was wrapped around her neck.  The head nurse got "side tracked" never wrote down the name of the antibiotic and went to lunch leaving my chart in another patients room.  While preping me for surgery they gave me an antibiotic shot thru my IV and said they were giving it to reduce infection since it was an emergency C-section.  No one knew what my chart said because they couldn't find it. I started seizing on the table and almost died at the same time my daughter was being delivered.  They were able to give me a shot to stop the reaction  but had to knock me out completely to deliver my daughter.  Well the anestheisiologist gave me WAY too mush anesthetic caused me to start seizing again.  Terrible terrible experience.  I know have a necklace and a bracelet that lists everything I'm allergic to right down to cat hair.  I take no more chance with relying on others to write down or keep track of my medical information.  I also get a copy of whatever the doctor writes down everytime I go to the doctor.

I though i was going to dye being in bed and could not get up or I become dizzy and vision blurred. sorry i cannot tell you what that was cause i still till this day don't know.

food poisoning that was so bad the dr thought I had kidney failure or lyme disease.

       You could have taken Maalox or other OTC (over-the-counter medications, no Rx needed). Next time you are sick and do not want to go to the hospital or see a doctor, visit your local pharmacy. They can help you in many areas. If it gets out of control, it is time to see the doctor. Worse sickness I ever had was this spring allergy (pollen, dust, airborne viruses). I stay at home for three weeks and in bed most of time after taking some medications.

I had the flu but they did a spinal tap at the hospital to make sure I did not have spinal meningitis. Well when I got home I could not walk or move off the couch because of the spinal tap. So all I could do was lay there and lean my head to the side to get sick for 3 days. I needed help to the bathroom every time
