Greatest Social Problem Today

What do you think is the greatest social problem today? Why?

In the country or in the world? I believe there are too many to choose from to crown just one though....It might be racial or sexual-oriented inequality, religious extremists, corrupt gov't officials *cough*ChicagoandDetroit*cough*, laws that make no sense, education, etc.  It also depends on where you're from I suppose, so of course one will argue A is greater than B without accurate knowledge of B.

We could talk about all of them all though...you should make a poll with a bunch of them listed. But I'll just answer D. "ALL OF THE ABOVE!"

Poverty and homelessness

No money for most causes a lot of problem.  People not having homes.

Social problem presupposes a relationship between one individual and another or one group and another. Profound, inescapable poverty is at the root of all the others mentioned. Malnutrition, crime, lack of health care, government corruption, even human trafficking can all be tied to the impoverished and those trying to escape it. If you ask what is the greatest problem facing mankind, its the maldistribution of food. Millions go hungry while tons of grain and other foodstuffs sit in warehouses rotting or feeding vermin. A situation destined to worsen as  (if) global warming continues unabated. Arable land will diminish and total crop yields, decline. Getting the food to the needy is teh social part of the problem. Only then will the poorest have a chance to escape poverty.

Discrimination is a huge social problem.  Discrimination hurts and divides people.

I believe the greatest problem in America today is the failing school system and the lowered educational standards we set for our children.

In my estimation some where around 99% of all the worlds ills boil down to pure basic ego as their base motivation.

The lack of honesty and sincerity in this world. It seems like everyone is out for themselves these days. No one seems to care about anyone else, and even if they do care they still lie to each other. If we would all just be honest and try and just a little bit more than we usually do then the world would be better all together.

Greed.  Once we resolve that problem somehow, we'll be ina lot better shape!  Too bad that one is pretty impossible to resolve

Attempting to remove God from America......... if God was put back in America the way the country was originally MOST of the problems happening today would NOT even be happening.  Remove God and it all goes to hell.

One huge flaw in that thinking. You said "the way the country was originally". Originally, worshipping God was not in America.
Generations before Europeans came to America, native peoples celebrated the bounty given to them by the Great Spirit. White colonists drove Indians onto reservations and the fervency of their religious practices increased, thus bringing the 'notion' of God to America.

I agree there are far too many problems to narrow it down to just one. At this point in time, I will say this. Why do we have children going to bed hungry, night after endless night, in this country while we spend billions of dollars all over the world to help other countries or to 'valiantly' blow them off the face of the Earth?
I am also sickened by the number of church members who are more than willing to "adopt" a child from another nation to make sure they have food and medical care, but fail to look right in their own communities at just how many children could be helped right here in the good old U.S.A.
