Mr. Rogers
« on: May 01, 2010, 05:29:49 pm »
So...did people see that blurb on the news about how the generation that has grown up on Mr. Rodgers is bad because he told them they were "special"? I thought it was kind of ridiculous....and I would post the link here, but I can't...go to YouTube and type in: "Mr. Rodgers is an Evil man" and it'll be the 3rd one down....would love to hear people's thoughts on it...

Sounds kinda blown out of shape to me - There was nothing wrong with that show years ago in my opinion. ::)

I ACTUALLY LIKED THE SHOW WHEN I WAS YOUNGER AND LOVED THE TROLLIE CHARLIE AND THE PUPPETS  HE SHOWED US KIDS HOW TO BE KIND , SHARE, FEED OUR FISH  LOL.  I ALSO LIKED WHEN HE WENT PLACES IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD  LIKE THE BAKERY OR SHOPS WHERE THEY SHOWED WHERE TO MAKE THINGS AND HOW.   P.S.  I EVEN REMEMEBR THE WHOLE SONG  ITS  A BEAUTIFUL DAY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD   LOL.  THANKS FOR THE FUN MEMORY.

Fred Rogers was a kind hearted man that cared about kids and peopl in general. DOn't believe everything you read on YouTube.  :dontknow:

I don't know where they got that idea.  In reality Fred Rogers was a very kind and warm hearted man.  I met him once and we talked for just a few minutes.  He was the same off camera as he was on. Fred pioneered childrens television and he always talked to children not down to them.  I only wish there were more people on TV like him for kids today, instead of the garbage that they have.

I'm part of the generation that grew up on Mr. Rogers...and Sesame Street...and the Electric Company...and Zoom...and I see nothing inherently wrong with Mr. Rogers' show, message, programming structure, or message choices.  beats most of what's out there today IMHO.

There are always going to be people who have a need to pick apart innocence and turn it into something evil or bad. If Fred Rogers was the biggest 'villian' we had to worry about, this world would be a peaceful one.
