sex offenders
« on: April 19, 2010, 02:28:28 pm »
sex offenders should go to prison and stay there. I understand that there are some registered sex offenders that didnt commit crimes against children. For instance; on my local list there is a former police officer listed on there for having sex with an ADULT inmate. I guess because he was supposed to be a person of authority...?  i dont know the details on that one or the law on.
I keep hearing about children dying in the hands of registered sex offenders. why were they out in the general population where they could get ahold a child in the first place?
These people are attracted to children...they arent "sick" in a literal sense...they can not be "fixed" "cured" or "rehabilitated".
I am a straight female...that would be like telling me i could never want, be with, or lust after another man ...EVER...well, that cant be done.
I say get these sickos off the street for good!

Yes and then my taxes will go to feeding, housing, and providing TV for these degenerates.  Death Penalty all the way.  I'm not talking about shots either.  A bullet is cheaper and quicker.

"Death penalty all the way" ??? - wow.  The OP didn't specify that this was about child molesters and that is why I question that.

I am thinking about all the registered sex offenders who happen to be one because they were 19 and had sex with a 17 year old. The younger person's parent decided they did not like the older male/female, so they hauled their child down to the police station and had them arrested. You think they should be locked up for life or actually given a death penalty? Or how many times has a young woman cried rape just because a boyfriend didn't call them back? Now, I am NOT even remotely speaking about 'child molesters' here - that is an entirely different aspect of this altogether. I read this and felt I had to throw my point in the mix because I feel it's a valid one. I don't feel you can throw every labelled 'sex offender' in the same group, so I don't feel the punishment by death is all inclusive and certainly not merited. I have a friend who's son is now and will forever be listed as a sex offender because of the first scenario I described. It has basically ruined his life. He is now 29 and had sex with his girlfriend of 2 years when she was a senior in high school (almost 18) and he was a freshman in college, just celebrated his 19 birthday. The girl's mother never liked him, he came from 'the wrong type of family' as she put it and she had threatened to break them up no matter what it took. She even set the entire scenario up, knowing they thought they were alone in the house, so she could catch them in bed together! It was hell for everyone and still is for the young man. That is why I don't go with the life in prison and/or death for every one of them out there.

I will say that if anyone had touched one of my children or ever touches one of my grandchildren, I will be locked up for the rest of my life. I don't believe, knowing myself as well as I do, that I would just walk away and allow the courts to deal with it.

I agree, the sicko's should not be let out on the normal streets, isn't it the justice systems job to protect us in the first place, there is no getting better, a sex offender cannot change, that stuff will always be in his heart, unless he finds the Lord, but they can lie about that and use it as an excuse, not they should be in some mental place, and learn to live with the rest of the sex offenders, prison will kill them, I say stick them in a mental institution with nothing but sex offenders and leave them there. Make them attend church and counseling on an everyday basis.

We need to revamp the laws so we don't label people sex offenders for BS like your friend's son was. My point is prisons are over crowded.  They let people out they shouldn't, innocent people end up dead, and then every one in the legal system says "well we didn't know..."  A 13 year old girl was killed not far from where I live and why?  Because someone saw fit to release this freak who had served time for rape already, among other things.  He tried to rape her and when then didn't go his way, he killed her.  Now those parents have to live the rest of their lives without their daughter because our justice system saw fit to let this guy live.  I'm tired of no one doing a damn thing to stop these people until it's too late.  :angry7:

I think the dangerous ones definitely need the death penalty, and right away, not after our tax money has been feeding them for 20 years. But the ones like the nineteen year old mentioned above are not really child molesters. If the girl is willing, then the boys can't be guilty, even if he is older than her.

Death penalty in some states are actually reallllllly expensive. So it might be cheaper to just let them rot in prison for the rest of their life. I'm in California and we have a case where a sex offender has admitted to killing 2 young teens and the DA agreed to life in prison without parole - so they're not going for the death penalty. There are reasons for this decision - if they went after the death penalty one of the girls wouldn't get justice (they didn't have enough evidence to convict him for it) and pursuing the death penalty is very costly and will take years (because the defendant has rights).

By the way, this guy was a registered sex offender and served time previously. He should've been sentenced longer the first time around, but he wasn't...so he was out to commit rape and murder of these young girls.

I agree with Sharon......sex offenders cannot be cured.  They are responsible for so much heartache........I can't even talk about my abhorration for sex offenders, particularly when the offense is against a child.  These people take the word "sex" to a gross and disgusting level.  I wish we could come up with a better term for discribing these people.  Sex offender, just doesn't fit the crime.  I believe we should term them as.....Criminal perverts.  Imagine how much more powerful it would appear, if the internet identified...."Criminal Perverts" living in your neighborhood, instead of Sex Offender.  To me....Criminal Pervert, describes the person, and not just the act.

Kill them all. Quit filling up the prisons. I say if you rape someone, molest a child, disfigure a person, you should be put to death.

Shoot, I say if you hit someone, you should be put to death. There are too many people in this world causing to many problems.

I could go on and say if you rob someone, break into someone's home, kidnap a child, steal something, you should be put to death.

I think if it was this strict in the world, it would be a wonderful world to live in. It would be so nice to get a peaceful night sleep.

What if you steal a loaf of bread to feed your kids?  DEATH?  I think if the world was this strict it would be a sad shitty life.  What color is the sky in your world?

Yes, that was a very sad case and I understand why they went with life in prison there.  I also know that the death penalty is expensive and largely wasted.  People sit on death row filing appeals into forever.  Especially in places like California, where Richard Ramirez is still alive and well.  There's no perfect solution. I'm simply tired of pedophiles in particular being given chances and innocent children paying for it.  As a parent it scares the hell out of me.

The topic here is Sex Offenders
First of all they get off with a slap on the wrist. You know sex offenders can get government grants BUT if you get caught with marijuana you CANNOT. What is that telling the people of the world?? I am with Jordan, I will go to PRISON gladly before any of the BS court could ever come into the situation.
And I think its sad marieelissa the way you think is very strange, wanting to send someone to death if they steal something? A quote from you:"There are programs you can apply for if you can't afford a loaf of bread   Wic, Foodstamps, AFDC. There is also Churches that will give food out."
You must not be a parent!! I personally have not stolen to get by for my children BUT in some cases you do not want to fail your children and that is what some parents believe they are failing their children or maybe they are ashamed to ask for help. I'm not saying its okay to steal im saying UNTIL your a parent do not push them threw the mud. You have NO RIGHT!!

I agree with Jordondog....there ARE instances where a young man is charged with an offense that should NOT identify him as a SEX Offender.  That is why I believe the term SEX OFFENDER is way too broad.  I think the term should be.....Sexual Pervert, or more explicit........Child Molester.  Teens are a REAL dilemna, because young men need to realize that they COULD be charged as sex offenders, IF they engage in sex with a minor....no matter their relationship.  It's a catch 22, and a judge should be sensitive to the issue of teenage relationships.  Don't you think?
