Y don`t go to church but would like to explain what easter stands for to my 5 and 7 year old grand sons,any suggestions

simple is best....Christ died and was buried on what is now Good Friday in a cave.  On Easter Sunday, it was discovered that a huge rock blocking the cave had been moved and Christ's body was gone.

You could teach them the true origin and history of the holiday. It was named for a Pagan god , Eostre, and dates back before Christianity adopted it.
