Gym membership or work-out at home
« on: March 18, 2010, 10:00:52 am »
Which one do people prefer? Why?
Lots of benefits either way-home might be cheaper/more convenient, but sometimes
going to the gym can be more motivating...also, classes at the gym are usually pretty helpful...
Oh...and anyone caught on to Zumba? So much fun..give it a try some time!!

I have the Zumba dvd's...YES they are fun!  I know how and LOVE to dance to that kind of music (salsa, cumbias, ect) I used to go to dances all the time and come home sopping wet just from sweating!   ::)  It is a LOT of fun.

About the gyms...I have machines here at home, I thought that it would be better for me; making it easier, cheaper, ect.  but find myself making every excuse in the book not to have the time to exercise!  So I think if you really want to lose weight and exercise then go to a gym.  But that's just my opinion

I tried for a really long time to work out at home but I never got into. I joined the gym about 4 months ago. It's still hard to get motivated but the classes are a lot of help. And nothing is more motivating than thinking that you are wasting your money. I went to a Zumba class at my gym but I couldn't do it. I have like no rhythm though so I left half way through.

Unfortunately gym membership - yes its more costly and you have to make yourself go out and workout, but I just don't get the same workout at home.  Gyms have professional machines that the average person cant keep in their home, even if you get one of the all-in-one home gyms.  I have like 4 Wii workout games including EA Sports and Wii Fit, but it just doesnt equal the intense workout I get at the gym.  Maybe once I get into better shape I can maintain my weight at home and save money, but for now I'll pay the monthly fee.  I'm proud to say I've lost 5 lbs in the last month.

I can't afford a monthly fee to go to a gym, so I workout at home. I walk as much as possible and have a stationary bike that I use as often as I can. Sometimes I get bored so I pop in a P90X workout DVD in my DVD player and workout to that. I have 2 10 pound weights for my weight training, so I get a cheap effective workout at home without the pricey cost of the gym.
