don't ask me, I don't make the laws.

Laws are meant to evolve and adapt and IMPROVE things.  We don't always get our laws right - just check your history books.

Assisted suicide is overrated unless the person is terminally ill. I've been reading a lot about Dr. Jack Kervorkian lately who's the person who invented Assisted Suicide for the terminally ill and I can see the morality in it. If they are going to die anyways why not help them do it faster and more importantly painlessly. On the other hand if the person is just trying to get away from the world because they are depressed or whatnot then definitely no assisted suicide there.

Overpopulation is not the problem in itself. It is the technology and electricity, cars, factories...that with so many people it causes problems.

Yes, and with less people, there is less need for these environmentally-damaging buildings/machines.  Encouraging people to have babies like mad and acting like every life is "special", as is the case right now, is only going to worsen the problem.

They're only allowed to not suffer physically in your eyes, eh?

Yes. Physical pain is impossible to relieve but mental pain just takes time and patience. I've been through a lot of *bleep* in my life and I've often been at that point where I'm like 'what's the *bleep* point' but then I just try to find something to occupy my time that makes me happy and usually everything turns for the better. Suicide is for the week and getting someone to do it for you is even wimpier.

Who are you to judge others' pain or life circumstances?  Life can be much, much worse than the "worst" most of us have gone through.  While some people may be able to "get over" their problems in time, some people will never be able to because that's just how their brain functions (they're like anorexic girls thinking they are fat).  What does it matter to you what someone does with their own life and body?

I actually think it takes a lot of *bleep* to be able to overcome the genetic pull to survive.  People who kill themselves aren't necessarily "weak", they've just decided their life investment isn't worth it.  What does it matter anyway, when they will be gone forever when they die either by suicide or natural causes?  What would living another 10, 20, 30 years really change for the big picture?  Nothing.

that's why I made it clear that you'd be a *bleep* if you have to get someone else to kill you. If you're so weak and hopeless that you want to die well then at least have the *bleep* to do it yourself.

Well it won't happen, people will have babies because it is what they are designed to do. You don't believe in God as do a lot of other people. Life is their only chance at living. People will continue this way until they are unable to do so. Everything in life must come to an end. All good things eventually come to an end.

That is called freedom! People can have as many kids as they choose and you just got to deal with it.

What about all the people who can't have kids/reproduce on their own? They resort to artificial means and wind up with multiples, instead of one child? If someone cannot get pregnant on their own, isn't that 'your God's' way of telling them He did not wish them to or 'design' them too? I just LOVE paying tons of money to support people who can't take care of themselves. The price paid by this country and others through wars and everything else in order to have freedom was NOT intended, in my thinking, to include overpopulating just because you can afford the means to do so or are too stupid/careless not to!

Please, please, do something (anything) to educate yourself about how things in this country work and what laws are on the books before you put ridiculous things down here.

Well, some people may not be able to kill themselves.  For example, someone who is paralyzed.

Interesting that you should say "it is what we are designed to do" but then follow up with god.  It is not the atheists that are having 19 children to one family.  It is not the intelligent, responsible people who are having more kids than they can feed or care for.

Humanity on the whole will suffer if people don't learn to use birth control.  You said so yourself in another post; interesting to see you go back on your word once again.

I agree; it is really unfortunate that people would rather shell out tens of thousands of dollars just to have their own seed and end up with 3-8 kids rather than adopt.  Defeats the whole purpose of telling people "instead of having an abortion, put the child up for adoption"; adoption is the very LAST resort for most couples...and even then, most are seeking a healthy, white INFANT.

And yeah, people who blatantly choose to not take care of themselves need to be cut off.

Well shut up then. If you can't change something then shut up. Quit complaining about things you have no control over and adapt.

Hmm, following that logic, I guess we should say that about cancer or the like, too.

No one should ever just "shut up" when it comes to something that is destructive and wrong...you can make a difference by educating people about birth control, not chastising married people for not wanting kids, etc.

I never was chastising married people for not not wanting kids. YOU just have a guilty conscience.

I didn't say you were.  I was just saying that is a way people could help with the overpopulation issue -- don't "look down" on couples who don't have kids.  And what the hell would I have a "guilty conscience" about?

No your right because the intelligent people never loose their jobs and file a chapter 11. Intelligent people never think that they will just have kids and hope for the best.  ::)

I'm not saying intelligent people are exempt from a stupid choice here and there, but in general, no, you are not intelligent if you make bad choices in life that mess up your (and your kids') life.
