I'm the same way, I love being able to work and help provide for the family. But lately I have been a stay at home mom (First time in 4 years) and i tell you it’s just like have a full time job. They keep me on my toes, granted mine are 4yrs old, 2yrs old and 9mths old, so its double time for me all the time. I'm going to school full time on top of it all, but I think I would love to go back to work and enjoy some away time while making money!!

I have often considered creating a new online personality as a stay at home mom and I bet my income would double. It's a clique that is a virtual goldmine from my observation. Unfortunately I have too much integrity to like like that, but it's tempting.

Well, I am trying to figure out where I fit in here. My children are grown and gone.  I have no husband or Signifigent Other. The only pet I have is a purple stuffed dog named Fred. I guess you could stretch it a bit and say I am a stay at home Mom to Fred. Ha, Ha, Ha. But that is a really GREAT job. He doesn't cost me a penny. No food, water, or vet cost. I can tell all my problems and he doesn't gossip.

I have 4 children of my own and absolutely loved the opportunity to remain home with them while they were young.  When they were of school age, it wasn't so hard to go back to work while they were busy.  Granted, it would have been nice to have that time to clean house, invent incredible meals or sit down and read a book but I don't regret going back to work after they went off to school.  It keeps my sanity, too!

Do what is right for you and your family, not for anyone else.

I was a stay at home mom while my kids were little and at home and I wouldn't trade it for the world. It was the best use of my time that I could think of, to stay at home and teach and take care of my kids. When the last one started first grade I started working in the schools and again I was able to be with my kids.

during the first few years once my fiancee and i have a baby, he wants me to be a stay at home mom so he can take care of us. i dont think i could do it though. but if i babysit my nephew, i could get paid by the state. and still raise my child.

I've been both. When my girls were younger, I stayed home with them, eventually I had to get a night job. Now that they are both older I'm currently unemployed well, I'm working from home writing. In this economy I am wondering if I'm doing the right thing.

I am a stay at home mom right now, but really loved to go to work before I had her.  Once she goes to school, I am definately going to go back to work.  Quite honestly it isn't a whole lot differant, excet there was paid, and in charge of adults, instead of children.  There are just too many wierdos out there for me to leave her with anyone, plus like someone else said, it is nice to be able to stay home and bake cookies, etc.

i was a working mom for a long time, and recently became a stay at home mom, it seems to make my child and husband a LOT more happy having me around whenever they need and thats enough for me to see this is the better choice!

This may sound terrible, but I really enjoy working. I do not work long hours, only 6 hours max per day. This allows me the freedom to earn my own money and to get out of the house. I work with the public and really enjoy the time I have away from home. When I do get home, reality once again sets in and the chaos begins lol. I do not think I would have had the same point of view 3 years ago, but as kids get older, they need their space....and have a lot more expensive taste in clothing! I certainly do not look down on working mothers or stay at home mothers. Being a full time mom is a lot of work and can be just as stressful as working a 9 to 5. Some women are cut out to be stay at home mothers, and I applaud them, however I am a working mother and intend on staying that way for a while.

I did stay at home for a while but I wasn't good at it.  I'm to much of a social butterfly and I feel STUCK when I don't work. I only work part time right now (my girls are really little still) so I like the flexibility and having my own money but I can't stay home all the time.   I wish I had the structure and patience to be at home.  I think I am a better mom when I work and my kids get to be with others at their sitters house.  PS My girls love who they are with and have a great time.  It works out for all of us!
