Never!!  I don't want to encourage diabetes, inactivity or obesity so I NEVER bought them for the home.  We always had juices, milk and sugar free koolaid.  They never did mind, in fact, in their homes now, they don't drink cokes or any other sodas for that matter.  And, I saved so much money by purchasing other drinks for them.

Wow. I can't imagine how crappy my childhood would have been had my parents been prudish enough to not allow me and my brothers some caffeinated soda now and then. That's just...cruel. Do you also keep them from hamburgers, or pizza? Nine is young, I realize, but at what age do you let him off the leading strings?

hmmmm, prudish and cruel? my kids don't need caffeine or 30 grams of sugar to enjoy their childhood- believe me they are naturally hyper! :) and yes, they eat pizza and hamburgers and anything else they ask for. and they ASK for fruits and vegetables and water and juice. so by not allowing soda i have created healthy eaters. is that really cruel? is it cruel to think that i may have saved them from future health problems by teaching them healthy habits now? soda is not forbidden, but is a treat and i believe treats should be given in moderation. and is it any different than ice cream or cookies? i was allowed dessert once a day, after dinner, and it was usually 2 cookies with milk or 2 scoops of ice cream. so how is my controlling their soda intake any different?

Hey now, I'm not professing to know what's best for your own children, all I'm saying is that I'm glad as hell you weren't my mother, harhar.

Drinking Coke is just as bad as smoking a cigarette! Yes. In India, they use the syrup for pesticide! That's right. It kills bugs on plants.

My youngest child living at home is 13, other 2 are grown. Although he does drink cokes, more than he should, we have started cutting back on cokes, he now drinks 2 waters to every coke.  I have set a limit of 3 cokes a day, he usually has 1 at school and 1 after and one in the evening. :peace:
