Teens and Sexting
« on: March 01, 2010, 07:32:41 am »
Kids now days have the means to send pictures over thier phones and whatever other gadgets.  Do you think if caught sending pictures (nude or semi nude) they should be labeled sex offenders and  have to register as such?  This would stay with them all thier lives.

 when i was a teen we had polaroids

I agree that sounds like a rediculous penalty for something like that.

I think the law is taking things a bit far when they lablel these kids as sex offenders when they sextext.  Being labeled a sex offender remains on their records for the rest of their lives.  The law must be changed.  This could affect the rest of their lives which is not fair. :star:

I think that is ridiculous. If this is the case than people that pose for nude magazines or buy them and people in *bleep* movies and people that buy them and Victoria's Secret models should have to register as sex offenders. I get the Sunday Paper and ads for like JC Penny and Sears have Models in Underwear so they are sex offenders.
  lol well said. Don't take your kids to the beach, too many sex offenders there.

that's a little much...

i do think some parenting is needed.

before THAT ever happens  ::)

You're a moron.

Myself, I wasn't quite catching which side of this issue you were supporting, though I noticed a few posters took what you said to mean you are not opposed to this new law you're bringing up here. Sentence structure is important, though for as long as I've been writing I'm still trying to learn how to master it. (e.g.)
Abash'd the Devil stood, and he felt how awful goodness is

That is way to harsh of a punishment.
Maybe they should get fined or something of that nature.. but it's not that severe.

Teens are teens they are going to do things that us as adults maybe dont aprove of but your views as labeling them is ignorant!!! I agree with another persons post we as parents need to try our hardest to moniter and talk to our children. Dont be so quick to judge!!

I agree with this.

Teenagers are naive and this is the kind of crap society is telling us to do. Is putting someone on a sex offenders list going to solve anything? No, it's not. Find a solution that will work. Like putting out advertisements like the ones already on tv, only maybe ones that kids will take a little more seriously. We really just need to get across that that boy that they think cares about them and/or will keep the pictures to himself, likely won't. Tell them about how there are websites just for guys to put up their pictures of their ex-girlfriends who they're now annoyed with or whatever.
