I am sorry to hear that you are suffering due to the cut off with unemployment. I know that my partner is currently on unemployment and is having a hard time with actually claiming her benefits. I wish you the best of luck, hopefully congress will do something about it.

I'm not on unemployment I'm acually on TDI but if my condition does not improve by the time my TDI runs outI will have no alternative but to file for SSDI.  My hubby was on unemployment for about a year and was recently cut off but he may hopefully have a JOB lined of for next month :notworthy: just keeping my fingers crossed cause we have 2 yr. old and times are rough :'( Good luck to the rest of you still out there looking for a job..I am trying to start a home based business myself to not have to worry about working for someone else :bootyshake:

sorry for all you folks unemployed, i have been there before but I only had 26 weeks with no extensions.  Its very rare that you can find a new job for what you were making before, so you may have to start at the bottom. I know a few folks that have been offered jobs but refused because they were on unemployment and were happy not to accept a job till there benefits ran out. That's not right either

My 26 weeks of unemployment ended right on Feb. 20...I was freaking out because stupid congress had not extended the benefits, but luckily I made it just barely...the cut off was Feb. 20 and they granted me my extension.

On the plus side, congress finally extended the benefits, but only until the end of this month...so come next week we will be hearing about this whole mess all over again.

They really should just extend the benefits until the end of the year. I'm actively looking and it was not until this year that I finally have been receiving calls and going on interviews. Hope things improve for all of us soon.

I was on unemployment for almost 5 months last year but fortunately got a job before I was cut off from coverage.  Its so hard but unfortunately people of congress are thinking that 6 months to a year is plenty of time to find a job, but they don't know how hard landing a job really can be.

:sad1:  I'm sorry you guys can't find a job. I'm lucky, I'm disabled, and have social security to live on. I don't pay rent, and I grow a lot of my own food. I have to thank God, for that. I always thought I was bad off, untill just this past couple of years.. I see I am very lucky.

I just wonder IF ALL the Disability Payments, Government Subsidised Housing, Food Stamps, and other FREE Money Programs were SUDDENLY CUT OFF, HOW MANY OF THESE SUPPOSEDLY DISABLED PEOPLE WOULD FIND SOMETHING TO DO. THERE WOULD BE A MIRACULOUS HEALING TAKE PLACE ALL ACROSS AMERICA. YOU WOULD THINK JESUS CHRIST WAS BACK ON EARTH!!!

Newsflash-----The government has NO MONEY---They just steal money from the workers and producers and they give it to the "disabled", and other entitlement programs.

I've been trying to find work for about a year and a half now- you're not alone!! Unemployment is pretty rough, but the other things this economy is doing to college students right now... it's going to make me pull my hair out!

One main thing I've learned from being unemployed is to make the most of the money we have. I've turned into a mini Martha Stuart over the course of these past months, making homemade bread, yogurt, hummus, etc. and seeing that making things from scratch is actually less expensive than buying it pre-made. Wish I could grow a mini vegetable garden, but we don't have much of a yard.

As much as I dislike not having a job right, I'm actually healthier now than I was while I was working. My old job was so stressful, working 10 hours a day, plus some at home, and every month they were laying off 1-2 people...just awful.  :(

This in-between-jobs time really makes one think and reorganize priorities, finances, and things in life. Trying to look at the positive. Hopefully the job market starts moving forward at a faster speed soon.

I was laid off over a year ago due to outsourcing of my job to another country.  They laid off over 3000 people from three facilities.

Its rough because I was unemployed for 2yrs and I'm thankful for my part-time job. I been working since June 12th of this year. I'm also lucky to live in low income apartment. So far, I been keeping my head above water :)

I wonder if you would say this if you knew just how hard it is for most disabled people to actually draw disability payments.
