is anyone a winter olympics fan?
I really like the olympics -- summer and winter.

It is so sad that this winter games starts out with a tragedy of a young life lost during trial runs today.

The opening ceremony was weak. China spoiled me.

I missed the opening ceremonies because I work retail, but I love the winter olympics.  The summer olympics are fun to watch but the winter olympics are dangerous and exciting.  Actually as I type this a luge olympian just fell of his sled but recovered.

I'm amazed not only by the endurance these athletes have but by some of the ages. One girl was only 18 and then the 35 yr. old woman. Such a huge range. I love the speed skating. I like the Winter games over the Summer games. The opening Ceremony was really a let down compared to China.

I totally disagree, i think the winter olympics have as much importance as the summer olympics. I also agree though that people have started pushing the limits dramatically to the point of impossible to compete with. You dont want to see that 18 year old try something new that the 35 year old has been doing for the past 17 years. Theres a lot of experiece behind some things and it forces people to try something they've never tried before.
But that also says the same with summer, having people from all around the world compete at what they are best at. Physical strength and expertes. Dont you enjoy the Guiness Book Of World Records? I dont know anyone who doesnt.

Is it sad that I'm looking forward to the speedskating just because of Stephen Colbert?

I think the winter olympics are amazing. For the most part I like to watch the speed skating and the ice skating. I am in awe of the ability these athletes have and the strenght and speed needed to win. The games are very exciting to watch especially if a star athlete is participating. My favorites are Apollo Ono and Stephen Colbert.  :notworthy:

I love the Olympics!  The winter games are actually my favorite, which is strange because I HATE cold weather.
