When do you think is a good age for a kid to get a part time job and earn their own pocket money?

isn't 14 or 15 the legal age? I think whenever ya feel the need to get a job and get a little more money in your pocket than what your parents are giving ya for allowance.

I'm fifteen right now. I've never had a part time job, but I have been working online since I was 13. I have made way more money online than you could with a part time job.

Google is your friend. You can find me there. Can I find you there?

i think having a job as a teen builds character and lets them learn responsibility -- like being someone where on time, following policies on the job, etc.  Also can help them build financial skills.....

I think 15-16 is a good age.

Some places will hire them at 14 years of age.  I believe 15 is a good age to start working if they can find one.  So many people are out of work, the adults are taking all the jobs for the teens.

Well i am 30 now, but when i was an early teenager, My friend and I used to mow lawns from spring till fall.  We became the neighborhood mowing guys.  We charged between $15 and $20 depending on size of lawn.  But when we worked together, we were able to mow about 5-6 lawns within a couple hours.. and this became a daily chore.  We started to do pretty good for our age.

You can build character and learn responsibility working online also. Creating and managing websites plus running customer service chat is quite a responsibility. Also learning to invest the money you earn is a great way to build financial skills. I have learned quite a bit working online.

You're blessed. I'm 48, and I started babysitting age 11, working in tobacco age 13, and climbed uphill, barefoot in the snow 20 miles to get to school.  Okay, only the first two were truthful. The rest was something my dad use to tell me when I gripped about cleaning the yard, or washing the dishes. Point being, take a little time to try other things; sounds like you can afford it. I was 15, when I was able to get a work permit to go to work at grocery store.  :notworthy:

I started working when I was 14, but it wasnt a legal job, I just helped out at the youth football concession stand.  I officially started working at a movie theater when I was 16, almost 17.  I think 16 (sophomore or junior year) is an ideal age.  Plus there are strict minor laws so most places dont have their minors work more than 3 or 4 nights a week, and the shifts are usually 4-5 hours.

I was 15 and couldn't wait to have that freedom and earn my own money.  I worked the consessions stands for the company that provided food for fairs, concerts, etc. in my area.  It was great fun.

I got my first job when I was 16, seems to be around the age kids want to get their cars. I'm now 22 and have been managing my first job since I turned 18.
