I have heard that it is improving?  But I don't see it.

I don't think it will improve very much until the Democrats are out of power. I wouldn't want a completely Republican Congress either....you need a system of checks and balances, and right now there is no one to check the spending.

The way things are now I have very low confidence in any improvement.  It just seems as though things are getting worse. :- :-

Yep! Boeing is hiring, GM is hiring, IBM is hiring. When the big boys stop cutting and start adding jobs again it instills confidence in the whole industrial sector and we will see unmistakable improvement by Christmas.

I agree it is hard to say but I sure hope so.  I know here in Michigan they are hiring at least temp employees which is better than before when everyone was losing there job and couldn't find one.

I wish that it would. There would be less robberies, more people not out of work, and less stress all around.

I don't think it'll improve for some time yet. At least not to where it used to be. We have too much government spending and national debt. Greece and the rest of Europe should be a huge wake-up call as to what too much government spending and a socialist agenda can do to an economy. The last employment report was very sad indeed. Government employment rose by almost 400K whereas employment in the private sector rose about a tenth of that at a little over 40K! If you consider that the tax revenue to pay for those new government employees, even taxing those new private sector jobs at 100% would only pay for the wages of a few of those government workers (assuming wages are the same between the two groups), thus requiring added debt to cover the rest! For the most part, government cannot create wealth, unless it actually owns resources or manufacturing, and in the US with a capitalist system, this is not the case. So it requires a strong workforce in the private sector to cover the expenses of government. Unfortunately the last and current administrations have been spending well beyond their means. To make matters worse, the current administration has been doing things to hurt the private sector, such as increasing taxes on capital gains, imposing ObamaCare (in which most of the effects to the economy won't be felt until after 2012 according to the legislation), and now there is a major push for energy reform (esp. in light of the gulf disaster) which will further tax companies that use too much energy (and I'm sorry, but an unfunded mandate is a tax no matter how you disguise it). We might see a slight improvement in the economy, but until we see a major shift in the GDP from an improved private sector and not a (too) strong government sector, we are going to be stuck in this mess for years to come.

Maybe if we get serious about switching to a green economy. Then there will be many new jobs.
