I don't drive, but i'm definately against using phones while driving. I feel like when you drive so much, it becomes routine, and then you forgot that one small slip up can lead to an accident, or worse, death. Best not to have a distraction.

I've never seen anybody, EVER, who can drive competently while on the phone.
Should be damned illegal; if it isn't already.

Though sometimes; its gratifying to cut them off, or drive close to try and scare them straight.

Graeth--- I don't mean to pick on you but I must to prove a point.  I too get gratification by cutting them off or driving too close but this is what causes accidents.  It's responsible drivers that get aggravated with the non responsible ones and then it becomes road rage which isn't good either.  Hands free phones are a great idea but nothing else.  It's a vicious cycle and most drivers won't quit till they get into accidents resulting in a death of their own or someone else s, Then they're sorry and it will be to little to late!

I have mixed feelings about driving while talking on a cell phone. I do it occasionally, for very short, important calls, although if i am in a good spot I try to pull over. But a lot of people absolutely cannot concentrate on driving while they're talking. I don't really see how there's much difference between talking on a cell phone and talking to another person in the car. the only difference is that a passenger in the car can see the driving conditions, and might be aware if the driver gets distracted. I think texting while driving is a lot more dangerous, because not only are you distracted, but your hands are occupied too.

I agree with southernhorizons....talking to a passenger in the car is not that different than talking to someone on a cellphone using handsfree devices.  Talking to a passenger often causes the driver to look at that person thereby taking their eyes off the road.

I think handsfree cellphone usage is ok.

Texting while driving is OUT!  There is no way you can glance down at the phone pad to type and stay focused on the road conditions.

driving is a privilege, nothing should occur in the car that could pose a threat to others (eating, phones, texts, playing with the radio)...it only takes a split second to kill someone else!

in most if not all states you can be ticketed for not being in control of your vehicle its called failure to maintain control! Why would talking on a phone not distract you from main purpose of driving a motor vehicle! I am strongly against any type of distraction in the car! If your driving you should stay focused on task of driving! You need to watch out for others because they certainly don't watch out for you!!!

Anyone that thinks it is ok to cut someone off is pretty ignorant and just as dangerous as talking on a cell phone.
I'll agree talking on a cell phone CAN be dangerous but there are some that can do more than one thing safely.
I would be for it to be against the law it it came to it.
But you are even more of a danger cutting someone off that is one a cell phone then they are....Common sense is sometimes a hard thing to have it seems.

:sad1:  Well, as a VICTIM, {I was hit by a drunk driver, while crossing the street},, I can tell you that ANYTHING that takes your mind of the road for just a second shouldn't be allowed at all. I lost a lot. I use a electric scooter to get around, and I had 17 surgeries, all because of some idiot who thought he could handle his capacity to drink. Texting, or even talking on a cell phone while driving is very dangerous.  But then, why should I complain.. I got a free scooter, I get great parking spots.. and I even got a service dog, that I can take anywhere..

I think that cell phone use of any kind when driving is very dangerous and needs to be outlawed.
