That isn't weird in any way. You'll probably meet a lot of people you used to know.  I understand how it might be embarrassing for her, but that's really stupid.  You should go. It's not weird at all

I think it is weird if your kid is not on the football team or a cheerleader or in the band
I don't see why it would be weird. Do you think that all the people that go to the games are parents of the players? That's like saying people who go to pro football games are weird because they are in no way related to the players.

For the most part, yes I think most of the adults at the average high school football game are A) Parents/Relatives of players/cheerleaders/band members/etc. or B) School officials.

Pro football is primarily an entertainment/spectator sport directed at people of all ages, and largely directed at adults because they have money.  High school sports are not in the same category (unless you're somewhere like Texas where high school football is huge).

I don't think it's "weird" to want to go back to your high school after a while to enjoy the spirit of a high school football game.  I think you should respect your daughter's distance and comfort, however, so keep it in mind while you're there (I'm sure you would feel the same if you were in her shoes).

You graduated in 96 & you have a daughter who's a freshman? I'm guessing you had her really young?

Just don't sit near her & everything should be fine. ;)
she's 14 I had her at 18 senior year but I made it out with a diploma and attended college.

well I did go and it was so much fun, I loved seeing the band perform with the cheerleaders and dance team they even did a never before done performance together with the rival teams band and cheerleaders in dedication to a man who announced the games the in the stadium for 46 years, the girls were in the stands giggling and laughing, playing games it was so weird to see them together so cheerful, I thought it was great though and the best part was that our school won 49-42! It was an awesome game!

No, it's not weird. Your daughter just think you might embarrass her or something.

I would say go to the game but try not to be around your daughter and her friends.  remember what it was like when you were in high school and didn't want your mom to "embarrass you" lol
