The pandemic has impacted lots of us...rich/poor, white/black, young/old etc., so it's hard to know people's circumstances and we shouldn't judge....but.... it does reflect a sad reality of our culture - we value material things and possessions, spending not saving, etc....people want things now and we don't prepare for rainy days....

You are doing the very thing you say "we" should not do.  YOU are judging.  You have no idea what the situation behind this is.  No one knows the situation with the car.  And saying oh they should have prepared for a rainy day - well then so should you and everyone else bellyaching about this pandemic and how they are having a hard time.  Actually most should be flying pretty high.  The ones lucky enough to get the unemployment and that extra $600 a week for months should have saved some of that money instead of blowing as soon as they got it.

Hopefully none of you will ever be in a situation where you go stand in line to get a free box of food.  But if you do I hope everyone judges you just as harshly as you have judged these people with the fancy car. I would be willing to bet most of you have stood in the free box of food line.  And while you are standing there you are looking at everybody else judging them for being there.  FYI there are people who pick up boxes for others.  People who are not able to get out or stand in line.  They do not deliver this stuff to your house.

Assuming this person in the fancy car was picking up for themselves....First off you can't look at a car and know the year. My car is older than most people think when they see it from a distance. But let's entertain that it is a new car.  Say they have a good job and they bought the car at the end of 2019 or even very first of 2020.  Life was good.  They have a good job.  Then cov hits. The world shuts down.  They lose their job. Maybe they do not qualify for unemployment. A lot of people have jobs that they don't. So now they have a new car (their only car) and are trying to pay for it.  They qualify for help via a free box of food.  How can it possibly hurt the ones who are crying.  Go get your own box and be happy.  Saying they should sell their car and buy their own food shows how stupid you are.  The same thing can be said back to you.  Sell YOUR car and buy your own food.  Just because your car is older does not exempt you from the rule if you make it.  Just shows you are jealous and don't want somebody else to have something better.

It aggravates me that the majority of the people standing in line to get the free box of food are smoking.  I could sit and brew about it and complain about them on the internet and try to get others to join me in shaming them... OR I can mind my own business and live my life and not worry about them.  I choose the latter.

Amen

I have stood in line for food in the past. Not ashamed of it and I have transportation too. Recently, I haven't gotten food because I didn't need too. Churches all over are helping people with food so I don't see the big deal with anyone receiving it, it's their business and sometimes others have to stand in line for the disabled and take the food back to them themselves.

Why does every goddamned thread have to turn into a religious discussion?

Right.  And you don't always know other people's situation.  And if you need help no you should not be ashamed for asking. The thing is a lot of  people who really need help won't ask. Mostly because they will be judged. :(
I think a lot more people may see some hard times in the near future.

Jesus spoke of many identifying marks that would signify the ending of this system.Food shortages would be one of them

 The Second to Timothy 3-5

3  But know this, that in the last daysa critical times hard to deal with will be here. 2  For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal, 3  having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness, 4  betrayers, headstrong, puffed up with pride, lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God, 5  having an appearance of godliness but proving false to its power;b and from these turn away.

in normal times maybe I would agree. but have you ever looked at unemployment  and see how much it covers compared to your jobs.  lots of people that have been affected by covid may have nice cars and nice things and find themselves at the bottom.

sadly sometimes this happens.

I have have some distant relatives that get free food. There are no income checks or identification required.  You drive through the line and somebody puts a giant box of food in your vehicle. You never know what you will get.  Stores donate the products.

It depends on where you get the food from.  Some of the drives there are requirements you have to meet.  Others there aren't.  The last one they done in my county there were not income requirements and anybody could go. I am sure that some people got mad because somebody else got boxes and they thought they did not deserve it.  I don't get that.  You got your box so why does it matter.  They had extra boxes at the end of the day they had nothing to do with so somebody that wanted the food should get it.  My neighbor was talking about it.  Some of the boxes were really good and others not so much. But if you are hungry you will take it and be happy.  And most people were happy with what they got.

I hope all the Fusion Cash Forum people will decide to be less defensive and combative in the new year coming up soon.

Please! I like to post, but the amount of conflict on here is not conducive to either a good attitude or a joyful state of mind. Wouldn't that be a better way of starting off the new year on a good foot?

I finally ignored one member on this site just because of negativity. And I'm sure I've been negative at certain times. Maybe there have been people who ignored me as well. Perhaps we're letting the stress of the COVID pandemic response get to us. Maybe we're feeling less loved at this time of year. At any rate, wouldn't it be nice to come on here and just give our opinions and suggestions without fear of malice and fierce opposition from others.  :angel11:

I'm gonna do my best in 2021 to be positive and give my opinions without malicious intent for the person posting. Anyone agree with me?
