Take a few minutes to read this page now and it may save you a lot of headaches later. If nothing else, it tells you how to get around the pop-up so you have a chance to resolve it. Above All - Do Not Call the Phone Number They Give You, it is NOT Microsoft.

I've gotten those and DO NOT call the number.  I shut my computer off completely and it would go away.    I found that I got them while using IE or Edge so I switched to Chrome.  And I usually got them while playing games or watching videos on Inbox.  My spouse used to get them a lot on PCH (Publishers Clearing House)

I used to have someone who claimed they were from Microsoft call my landline when I had one and they only want access to your computer remotely to put viruses on your computer to shut your entire device down. They always had a foreign accent.

i have never got one of those, but I know they exist.  If it happens I will just shut down the computer and get to work around it.

I've gotten these pop-ups as well. Definitely a scam.

I have a pop up blocker. I never get the pop ups that try to get through. It is always  good to have that option. I also have a spam blocker on my smartphone. so easy to block spam these days :)

This has happened to me a few times.  I just simply turn off my computer for about 10 minutes, then do a restart.

It is a scam!

I did call that number about 5 years ago! They wanted 300.00 to fix my computer ~ no way and hang up!

My mom's friend had same issue and paid! Never got fixed! So she had to get fix locally around $500!

The have keep calling - I hang up!

Now I get call about computer antivirus has gone out of business~ Not mine anti-virus
