I grew up in a strange family.  My dad was killed when I was young, I do remember him but it's hard to remember much.  It was just my sister, mom, and me.  I know my mother loved me, but I know she didn't like me.  Everything was my sister.  I can't tell you how many people and how many times I heard people say " you know you have 2 daughters" as she never talked about me.  I can't remember her ever hugging or kissing me.  She never (and I mean never) gave me a compliment but was quick to criticize.  I left home, went to college and got married to a wonderful man and married into an absolutely wonderful family who not only loved me, but liked me.  Even if I goofed up something my mother in law never criticized me - never!  My sister and her family have become close to me, as my husband's family.  I also have 2 wonderful friends, who gave me a plate which says friends are our chosen family we love you.  So my early life was difficult to say the least it's all good now, so please don't anyone feel sorry for me, I am now blessed.

Family relationships can be tough. I put in more effort to maintain those relationships than I do for my friends. Family is very important.

We are closer to family on my side because my husband always was considered the black sheep on his side even thou they love him

I think everyone has problems with their family. I know I have had more than a few problems with mine over the year.
