Why do people act funny when...
« on: May 31, 2019, 08:52:09 pm »
You try to collect money they owe you?  Why do they act like you are the one who is wrong and act like they shouldn't pay you back?  I don't understand that.  I've never borrowed a dime from anyone but if I did I'd make sure they get their money with no problems.  I guess these people just have no integrity or character.  I have some relatives involved in this type of nonsense.  One person always needs money and handouts and never seems to have their life together.  This other person has given them money several times and this last time when they asked about it the borrower got really mad and has refused to talk to the lender.  It's so stupid.  They probably won't ever get that money back.  The borrower is acting like the lender is the one who is wrong.

Before someone borrows, make sure an agreement is made first. some may want their money back and some may not.

I doubt it they are embarrasses because they have borrowed money from numerous people over the years.  They have no shame in asking.

I learned this lesson many years ago.  If the person asking to borrow is continually in that predicament, doesn't have a consistent job, seems like they continually live by the seat of their pants, spends on non-essentials when they do have a bit of money, I am not going to lend anything to them because I wouldn't expect to get it back.  Also, if they ask for more money before they have payed back the first loan, you are just asking to be stiffed if you give them more!

I think the borrower is acting that way because they just don't have the money to pay the lender back just yet, so they are mad the lender is asking about it so soon. Of course, the borrower is in the wrong about this. They should just say I'm sorry I don't have the money just yet but will get it to you as soon as I can.

It's called getting a job and paying your own way.  Get your priorities straight.  You pay your bills first.  We were talking about this just this morning when we saw a man who I assumed is homeless. In my area you do not usually see them sitting all over the side walks.

We were talking about a man who had kids and ended up homeless and was interviewed on the news. HE said well I had a choice I could pay the electric bill or the rent.  My kids need electricity.  Well dumb butt now you live in a camp ground with no shelter other than a tent and no electricity.  Get your thinking and act together.  You pay your rent or house payment first.  You have shelter. You CAN live in a house with no electricity.

You can eat cheese sandwiches or peanut butter.  People are too entitled.  You can get by with a lot less.  I have seen people who as soon as they get the welfare check they go out and eat at a restaurant like Shoney's.  Stiff the wait staff.  And after spending $60 on ONE meal are crying about how can I pay my rent, I can't buy groceries, I can't pay the electric bill.  People are stupid.

If I had it there are a couple of people I would help financially.  Close family.  And I would not care if they did not pay me back.

So soon?  How do you know it is soon?  Maybe it has been several months or even years.

You do not know the situation to defend the borrower.  Like someone else said maybe the borrower is spending what money they do have on nonessential crap.  If you owe me money and I find out you took a trip to the beach or went out to a steak house and ate and went to the movies and didn't bother to pay back the money you owed me I would be upset.

I've seen this type of thing happen way too often.  It's happened to me a time or two where someone borrowed but never returned.

That's why, from here on out, if anyone comes to me asking for a loan, I look at them straight in the eye, shake my head and say, "sorry but I'm not a bank."

I know that there may be a few exceptions but very few.  By and large no one gets any money from me.

That seems like a hateful way to say it.  I would think someone would be sort of close to you in order to ask you for money.  I would just say I don't have it.  I have actually only had a couple of people ask me to borrow money.  I gave it to both without hesitation.

That's why I just say to certain family members that I am not a bank! if someone really needs it, I will help if I can and it does not put me into a jam, it depends on the circumstances but  if they are embrassed or acting funny; it is most likely that they just don't have the funds to repay back.

It's really not hateful at all if you know the people who have asked me for money.  I have been very helpful to many people.

There are those who show appreciation.  I have no problem at all helping them. Then there are the ones who are abusive and try to find every way to take advantage of a situation and still find ways to bad mouth.

I'm talking about a couple of  individuals who are  family members of mine and who, for decades, have had nothing better to do than be totally irresponsible with their finances, would 'borrow' from me and my parents and would proceed to show off all the things they bought with our help.

So, with all of that said, it's not hateful when you know how badly family members have treated you over many years. At least in my opinion.

It's really funny when someone borrow money from you, they start tp dodge you as they you are going to call them out in from the public.  If you owe money and can't pay back on the agreed time, then call to tell them. Stop being  an A$$ about it.  It's funny.
