I am normally okay going over bridges. However, in my state of Michigan, the American Society of Civil Engineers did a study of our infrastructure and we are in very poor condition.  From what I understand, much of the country is in the same condition.  Since it's going to take both federal and state money to remedy this situation, politicians have delayed and delayed and kicked the can down the road.  In the end, for example, Michigan has an overall grade of D+ for our infrastructure. Twenty-seven other states were surveyed so far and none are in good shape. Even with the poor shape of roads and bridges, water and sewage systems, and communications infrastructure, some people here in Michigan are having fits that they may have to somehow help pay for this.

I may not squirm but I hate being on a bridge. Whether its long or short I still hate being on a bridge. I always fear it will collapse and I will end up in the water without a boat. Think about that every time i cross one.

I am not a big fan of long bridges either. I am always glad to get to the other after I cross them.

Bridges haven't ever bothered me a bit. Just close your eyes (as long as someone else is driving) while you go over them. lol

I was uncomfortable when I first moved to the area, but I've been here nearly 40 years and you have to cross bridges or tunnels to get almost anywhere here in Hampton Roads VA.
