I still can't find out about the free music, books, and movies you are suppose to have access to. Doesn't anybody use any of that? I don't order that much stuff so the free shipping is not a perk for me.  I might if I had free 2 day shipping no matter what.  I usually get free shipping any way I just have to wait a bit to get the items.

I use the books and movies - not the music as much because Spotify has more selection. With Prime Reading, you can borrow ebooks from their library. You don't need a Kindle; you can download the Kindle app or read in your browser. With First Reads, you get to choose one free pre-release ebook (to keep, not borrow) every month out of a selection of six. As with a lot of streaming services, the video, music and book selection rotates periodically. So no, you can't watch whatever movie you want for free, just the ones that are Prime. You also get unlimited photo cloud storage. There are some other perks I haven't tried yet. I believe you get a discount at Whole Foods. There's Wardrobe that lets you try on clothes before you buy them. You can get free delivery from Restaurants. You can access Twitch if you're into gaming. It depends on how much you'll use all the extra stuff. You may want to get the 30-day free trial to see if it's worth it to you.

I'm speaking as a long-time Prime member: I rarely get my items within two days anymore. Since Amazon switched to their own delivery service, I'm constantly having items out for delivery only to have them make "a mistake" and the item returns to their warehouse for a day or two before they decide to actually deliver it to me. And then there's the UPS SmartPost or whatever their service is called that hands the item off to USPS for delivery... those are always delayed at my post office. Then, I'm constantly having items arrive damaged due to improper packaging.

When my membership comes due, I'm not renewing... especially at the newly inflated rates, this year my account renewed just before the inflation set in and paid the usual old price and it's been worse than ever.

Thanks. This makes me re-think wanting it.  I know AMAZON will not use their own service to deliver to my house. I would come UPS. But if it hands over to the post office I am not interested because my mail man won't bring packages to my house. I have to go pick them up. He leaves a card in my mail box.
They normally only leave a card if the item is insured or requires a signature,  UPS and FED EX  will leave notices to on items that must be signed for.  I would call the post office and get something done about that situation.  Our post office is 25 mi away that just wouldn't fly with me

I am thinking about it.  My big thing is what content I can get for free in the movies and tv.  I am checking in to the Walmart.com also.  We just ordered some stuff from there because it is free shipping and I think 2 days and no fees.  And I don't have to go to the store. lol   And vudu which is walmart has a lot of free movies.

It does vary depending on if you are actually buying an amazon prime product or just using the market place through them.  I've done both and I think their divers are only for their prime products otherwise they have no control over the shipping itself, that's the company you are buying from through Amazon and that can be the post office or UPS.

I am on a 30 day free trial for Prime, but I really don't use Amazon enough to justify the cost. And I'm rarely in that much of a hurry to get something anyway.

I think it depends on the size of the package.  I get the small packages delivered by USPS.  Larger packages are delivered by UPS.
Have a wonderful day!

No you don't have to go to the Post Office to pick up.  That is why I did the trial and then a year subscription.  I am disabled and I have everything shipped right to my door.  I wouldn't pay to have to go to the post office as I can hardly walk.  I LOVE Amazon Prime.

Most everything ships UPS.  It goes over to the Post Office because that is cheaper for them. That usually happens when it is free shipping.

I am in my first year of using Prime and so far I love it.  The stuff is always delivered to my door and within the time frame that they quote me.  As a member of prime you also get books to read and videos which is great when you have a tablet.

I will definitely be renewing mine next year.
