no take backs
« on: September 06, 2018, 10:52:06 am »
Hello everyone
so today's topic is going to be about Indian giving  if you have not  heard of this term  before  that alright .
but what it basically means is when someone a friend or anyone  gives you soothing as a gift and than later takes it back  well i am bringing this up because this has recently happen  to myself

so the other day i was talking with my friend who happens to be male  and  we have known each other for about 10 months now well the other day we were talking and i said i needed to get my Game system over to my house .

well he turns around and says you mean my  game system yah imagan my shock because he gave this to me as a gift way back in may  .

so i sat there and i start think wait a minute did he seriously just take my gift back and make it his ?

and than i realized oh well  he paid for it so yah i guess it is his  but than i packed up all the  presents and gift he ever gave me or paid for out of his pocket and gave them back .

so if i pay for something  out of my own pocket  that makes it mine
and  in this drama learned a very valuable lesson  do not accept gift from anyone even on your birthday or holidays  . :present: >:(

I'm sorry that happened to you.... I think you did the right thing by packing up everything he gave you & giving it back. At least, it makes a statement that you aren't to be fooled with.

I've had that happen to me by my own cousin, it was a Christmas present. I still remember it to this day & it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. People suck sometimes for sure.

If he GAVE IT TO YOU as a GIFT then he should not ask for it back.  And I probably would have pointed that out.  Was it a birthday gift or Christmas gift?  I don't think anybody has ever done this to me but somebody did do it to my grandmother.

Somebody asked for a Christmas gift back?  Wow.

For whatever comfort it is you are not alone.  I have had that happen with friends and even family members.  It is hurtful and I now pretty much refuse to loan movies or much of anything else because of it.

Maybe I misunderstood the OP.  Loaning a movie you should expect to get it back.  I don't loan to anyone but my mom because most people you aren't going to get it back.  If I loan something and I do not get it back then yes I will ask for it back.  But if you GIVE someone something it is theirs. You should not go and ask for it back.

I have given things to people and then later wished I hadn't.  But I didn't go ask for the stuff back.

Sorry, but if it’s a gift you don’t have to give it back.

I have taught my kids that you don't give someone something, then take it back. It doesn't work for me! I tell them to really think about it before you give it away to begin with.

The only scenario I can think of is if someone gave me something and I was obviously not using it, I would be glad to give it back if they had a use for it.

I wouldn't have gave it back if it was something I really wanted.  In the court of law gifts are gifts and belong to the person they were given to.

I haven't had anything taken back since I was a kid, adults shouldn't do this type of thing- don't deal with him anymore.
