just seen an article about friends being released on Netflix. I believe it was an older article as me and my bf watched the whole 10 seasons on Netflix not too long ago.

but it was talking about how "bad" the show is towards transgender and homophobic.

sorry if thats spelled wrong

what are your thoughts on this

I watched Friends on reruns years ago, I thought it was pretty funny & harmless.
These days if people aren't offended by something, then they have no way to signal how good their virtue is.... or something.

I saw the article yesterday & was thinking why it would be homophobic or anti-transgender -- there was a third problem with it that I can't recall --  and the only thing I could think of is because they were missing in the series.

I don't see how comedians can make it these days when people seem to look for something to be offended about.

I totally agree, I watched jeff dunham the other day and they were joking about him being gay with the car he drives and the fact he plays with puppets but no one seemed offended by that.

Well I never watched enough of the show to know - hubby and I just caught a rare episode here and there.  Never cared for the show but that isn't why just never got into it.  But I would say if a show offends you move on and watch something else.  Plenty to watch especially if you have Netflix now.

I've never watched one single episode.  Didn't seem interesting to me.

I did like Friends. I only started watching it when it was in reruns.

As a matter of fact, they did comment on gays and stuff on that show, but then they would follow it up
with "not that there's anything wrong with that" quite frequently.

Shouldn't that cover their sins a little?  :dontknow:

I think it's very interesting that some people absolutely loved "Friends" (like I), while others couldn't get into it.  I guess that's why there is so much to choose from on TV.  Different strokes for different folks!!  I never saw anything offensive about the show, but then, I wasn't looking!

I also enjoyed the show, and still do on  reruns.  Sort of that mindless comedy that I can watch so as not to think about problems.  Never noticed anything bad towards transgenders or being homophobic.  Just a simple show based on a group of friends.
