What smell reminds you most of your childhood?

Tar from a freshly paved street.  It always brings me back to when I used to go down south to stay with my favorite cousins for the summer when I was a child.  The street they grew up on wasn't paved for a long time. It was basically a dirt road with rocks.  They finally paved it and when I smell tar it brings me back to those times.  I had so much fun playing and growing up with them.

Wow, I thought that I was the only one who recalls the smell of tar to my childhood.  In my case, though, on our freshly paved road my friend and I would go in the middle of the road and pop the little air bubbles that formed all over the place.   

Of course, we looked both ways before playing in the street.  I never thought the tar stains would wash off of my nails.  Thankfully they did.
