Hiring goats
« on: November 22, 2017, 01:26:32 pm »
Heard you hire ducks to eat your  outdoor greenery. My son clipped a tree, palm, tree, rose bushes. Alot of branches on the ground. He wants to hire someone to clear it away. I thought of hiring goats who would eat it all. Not sure how much it costs etc could be fun tomwatch.

If you want to  use goats to help get rid of all of that, it won't happen, they  don't like rose bushes. They always left those alone when we had them. and if you  don't keep them tied up  where you want them  eating they will be allover your yard and even  sometimes standing on your  car. Yep they are everywhere but where you want them. Even though ours were in pens they still mamaged to  get out and do damage.

That would be a good idea to hire a few animals to get rid of some plants from your yard or land. I'm unsure what a goat might eat, but you've got a point!

I don't know if goats would eat branches (do they?). But I do know I wouldn't mind renting some baby goats just to pet and watch do cute and funny stuff. They are adorable! :in-love:

I have heard of people getting goats to take care of their lawn instead of mowing it. Never heard of hiring ducks though. I had a pet duck for 13 years and she was a picky eater.

I live in Los Angeles, and I would have no idea how to even get ahold of a goat. haha, hopefully they aren't too pricey. Best of luck.

I didn't know a person could rent goats or ducks.  I have told my folks that they should get some goats to help "mow" their lawn.

Mom and Dad still live on the farm place that we all grew up on.  The farm site looks much different today after many outbuildings and fences have been removed.  The cow pasture is now used for crops, but many of the smaller pig and cow pens are all "lawn" that Dad mows.

Using his riding mower, it takes 9 hours to mow it.  Dad is 90 and won't hear of mowing less area.

Not so misunderstood, I have a pond in my backyard so my American Bullfrogs will chase away or eat the small mice and rats that pass and stop to sleep in my backyard. I love my frogs. The pond water is used to water/feed my fruit trees. Trying to make a cycle here.

I think most animals prefer  the new shoots that are soft and tender instead of the old wooden branches so they'll probably ignore those.  If ducks are anything like the Canadian geese we have around here they'll end up poking holes in your lawn :(
